A BILL
To reduce the rate of Americans becoming obese and drop the number of Americans that are already obese.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE
This act may be cited as the Augustus Gloop Act of 2017.
SECTION 2. FINDINGS
Congress hereby finds and declares that,
1) More that of Americans are obese
2) Adults who are obese are at increased risk of morbidity from hypertension, high LDL cholesterol, type 2

diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and osteoarthritis.


3) There is a potential link to obesity and cancer
4) If your waist is more than 35 inches, you may have a higher risk of weight-related health problems
5) obesity brings with it a host of debilitating health problems and a hefty economic price tag.
6) $190 billion -- That's the amount of added medical costs every year that are estimated to stem from

obesity-related problems. It's nearly 21% of total U.S. health care costs.
7) In 2013 the AMA Classified Obesity as a Disease
8) Annual medical costs of obesity are as high as $147 Billion
9) Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a

conversion factor of 703.


10) In 2014, African American women were twice as likely to be obese than Non-Hispanic White women.
SECTION 3. STATUTORY LANGUAGE
A) The Augustus Gloop act of 2017 will give businesses tax incentives for providing health and wellness
programs.Such as but not limited to, workout programs, paying for gym memberships, paying for meals that are
healthy(such as fruit, meat, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy), etc. The tax incentive will give the company back
10% in tax credits for how much they spend on health and wellness programs. Also if this bill is passed each state
will choose if it goes into effect for their state.
B) To monitor if a company if they are actually using the money properly on health and wellness programs, the
company, when filling out taxes, will write on a line provided how much the company spent on the health and
wellness programs. As well as a proof of what they purchased or spent.
C) There will be no penalty if a company chooses not to participate. However if a business is caught committing
fraud the severity of the punishment will be decide by the supreme court. In addition employees will be able to sue
for being denied of their health rights, as well as others who feel they have been wronged. A business can choose to
stop their health and wellness program 3 times any more than that they will not be granted a tax incentive for any
health and wellness programs.
