Identify definitions of different genres
Identify examples of books in different genres
Identify books they would be interested reading in the future

Table cloths

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS


Cut bookmarks/reflection/table numbers etc.
Set up food /drink
Find books for each genre
Come up with groups

PROCEDURE
Introduction
Students will be asked to journal. What is one genre you like the
most? Why?

We will go through the objective and agenda.


Students will be orally quizzed on different genres and introduced
to simplified definitions of each genre.

Students will map out genres on a big sheet of paper. It will


include
Fiction vs. Nonfiction
Traditional literature
Fantasy
Mystery
Realistic fiction
Historical fiction
Science fiction
Personal narratives
Informational
Students will then read on the floor for ten minutes while I set up
the book tasting.
Students will be assigned to their genre tables
Students will have 5 minutes to read
5 minutes to write in brochures
10 minutes to discuss/share books at the table
Rotate

Students will write on their reflection napkins about the class.
