Reliable insulation system

StoTherm Classic: Pointing the way for 40 years

Thermal insulation with a global reputation.

In times of diminishing energy

reserves, increasing economic
challenges and growing
environmental awareness, there is
a particular onus on the building
sector to evolve new solutions.
Building owners are increasingly
opting for facade insulation as
a means of achieving greater
independence, against the
background of national and
international conflicts with
regard to oil prices, contracts and
divergent interests. The choice of
external wall insulation systems is
expanding in response to the
growing demand, leading to
growing confusion in this area.
This makes all those involved in
the building process all the
more appreciative of experience,
know-how and reliability
which goes some way towards
explaining why StoTherm Classic
enjoys such worldwide success.
StoTherm Classic heads
the best-seller list
StoTherm Classic has now been the
international benchmark in the field
of facade insulation for over 40 years.
As the first EWIS (External Wall
Insulation Systems), its reliability and
long-term behaviour was tested from
the outset ahead of all the
competition and it has undergone
a continual process of optimisation
ever since. Today, almost one in
every ten square metres of facade
surface in Germany is insulated with

StoTherm Classic. Well over 80 million

square metres installed worldwide to
date demonstrate how this tried and
tested thermal insulation from Sto
surpasses other EWIS systems in
diverse respects.
Thermal insulation systems
are in demand
This should come as no surprise, as
using insulating systems not only helps
to cut unnecessary energy costs but
also demonstrates a responsible and
sustainable approach in the context of
ecological considerations and active
climate protection. The energy savings
resulting from the use of Sto facade

insulation systems alone account for

around 35 billion litres of heating oil,
thus avoiding the emission of over
110 million tons of CO2 into the
atmosphere.
Meanwhile, building owners
expectations of EWIS systems
continue to rise. Architects and
applicators are continually calling
for innovative solutions geared to
current trends, such as passive
housing or renovation projects
for existing buildings. Here too,
StoTherm Classic emerges as the
most diverse and reliable insulation
system.

Energy-efficient construction is
part and parcel of contemporary
architecture today. In this context,
a great deal of ground still remains
to be made up when renovating
existing buildings in particular.

A responsible and sustainable approach: Facade insulation lowers heating

costs and reduces pollutant emissions substantially. (Residential building

the conditions!
A system which is at home throughout
the world must be able to adapt
to the most demanding climates.
StoTherm Classic has proven its value
as a worthwhile and effective means
of air conditioning in hot regions,
too. Energy costs can be cut by up to
60 % with a professionally installed
system in both hot and cold
environments.

Economic arguments
Economic aspects are a key factor. And StoTherm Classic
comes up trumps here, too.
The system is

suitable for installation without requiring any expensive, drawn-out substrate treatment.
a time-saver and cost-cutter, thanks to the simple installation process.

"All inclusive" in a new light

StoTherm Classic wins on all fronts.

Obtaining ideal conditions in the

building sector entails a great
deal of experimentation. The
interests of architects, applicators
and building owners are often
so divergent that satisfying all
the parties concerned appears
virtually impossible. StoTherm
Classic meets the needs of all
those involved in the building
sector in terms of technology,
economy and design.
Passing the endurance tests
Organic, cement-free systems such
as StoTherm Classic are clearly
superior to the mineral and hybrid
systems, both on a technical and
functional level and with regard to
durability and economy.
StoTherm Classic offers shock-proof
and impact resistance ten times
superior to that of conventional
systems enabling it to cope
exceptionally well with extreme
weather conditions such as storms
and hail.
Staying flexible
A further decisive advantage in
terms of durability is the unsurpassed
elasticity of the cement-free Sto
system. In this way, StoTherm Classic
coating materials ensure maximum
crack resistance.

Using QS technology
All StoTherm Classic coating
components are optionally available
with QS variants. Products featuring
QS technology allow application in
the temperature range from +1 C to
+10 C and at a relative humidity of
95 %. This avoids interruptions to
building work in low temperatures,
often extending the building season
by a few decisive days.

Keeping the design options open

The requirements pertaining to thermal insulation
are rising on all fronts: In addition to the
obvious technical performance criteria, aesthetic
creativity must also receive due consideration.
StoTherm Classic opens up the necessary scope
for contemporary design and provides the basis
forattractive, seamless facades on existing and
new buildings alike.

The system: Well-engineered down to the finest detail

Take a look behind the facade.

Dont rely on first impressions. New surfaces often sport an

attractive, immaculate finish. It takes a while or a little rough
treatment to reveal what a facade is really made of tried and
tested quality or just a skin-deep cosmetic facade. StoTherm Classic
is well-conceived through and through, with the aim of avoiding
unpleasant surprises. All the components are perfectly matched,
quick and simple to install, robust and able to cope with decades of
adverse weather conditions. This means lasting inside temperature
coupled with a lasting attractive appearance.
