WHO AM I?
My name is Merve ARSLANTA. I am 19 years old. This is my second year
in METU and I am very happy to be here because I love campus and I like
education system of METU. Although all of the exams and things that I have to do
tire me too much. However, I believe that we will be qualified teachers in the
future thanks to this work load density.
Anyway, I want to mention my family and myself a bit more. I was born in
1997 and my birthday is on 31st of August. I was born and grew up in Elaz. I
have a younger brother and he is 14 years old. He is a high school student. With
respect to my hobbies, I love going for a walk in the campus and I like listening to
music. I love chatting with my friends and shopping.
Actually, any events, themes, values,or people did not influenced my
decision to pursue teaching as an area of study. I graduated from a anatolian
teacher training high school but I did not study in a anatolian teacher training
high school thanks to the fact that I wanted to study in a anatolian teacher very
much. According to my my mark, I deserved to study there and I loved there very
much in time. I loved English classes very much and I chose foreign language
department. I was very happy to be a foreign language student and I was very
successful. Then, I entered the university entrance exam and I ranked 147. in
Turkey . I deserved to study in this university according to my mark. Now, I am

studying in foreign language education department and I am very happy with it. I
am sure this was the most right decision that I made.
I am here not because of the fact that I wanted to be a teacher with all my
heart and soul but because of the fact that I loved English very much and I
wanted to proceed my life with English. I did not think too much while I was
choosing this department but I am very happy now. I am sure that I am in the
very place where I want to be.
I think I will use all of the teaching methods when I teach English because I
think all of the teaching methods are necessary to teach English. We use different
kinds of methods when teaching different points in English. I will use strategies
that will not bore the students because I think when students learn English
having pleasure is very important. If students get bored, they will not listen the
teacher and they will not learn anything. To teach English, we should make the
lessons enjoyable. I have not thought about the kind of assignments that I will
give my students yet. However, I am sure that I will give them plenty of
assignments to reinforce what the students learn in the classroom.
With regard to my opinions about human nature and development, every
person is special for me and every person has things (they may be pleasure,
opinions etc.) that are special for them. I will say the same thing when I become a
teacher to like my all students with my all heart. I think development is
subjektive because every person perceive development differently. According to
some people development means big changes, whereas according to some
people it does not mean like that. From my standpoint of view, as we are
teachers, we should convince our students to develop themselves as much as
they can do.

I think disrespectful students will be the most difficult for me to manage

when I become a teacher because respect and distance is very important for
me.Finally, in respect to being remembered by my students in the future, I want
to be remembered as a professional, a teacher who has good communication
skills and who cares about her students. I hope I will be a good teacher that
students like. I believe this.
