Administration Volunteer Role

Purpose of an Administration Volunteer


Administration Volunteers are there to provide valued support to various Departments and
Wards. They are required to assist staff with general administrative duties as well as
working on ongoing projects.
Outline of responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Arrive on time and sign in at volunteer register
Always wear security name and volunteer badge
Go directly to work area and register arrival with Manager
Stay primarily in work area
Sign out from volunteer register at end of duties
Volunteers will be asked to carry out administrative duties such as:
Filing, faxing, photocopying
Compiling information and patient packs
May be some basic Typing/Data entry
Phone calls
Assisting with mail outs
Sourcing goods and services
Reception (Meet & Greet)
Understand and support the Mission and Values
Outcomes / Goals
Provides an opportunity for Volunteers to assist Caregivers with administrative duties and
projects, which will help make a positive contribution to that Department or Ward.
Training and Support Plan
Volunteers will undertake a one-day orientation program to:
Identify the history, Mission and Values of St John of God Hospital
Environmental Stewardship
Occupational Health & Safety and Risk Management
Infection Control
Fire & Security
Non-Patient Manual Handling
Hospital Tour
General Induction with Manager/Supervisor once placed in role
Reporting
Any concerns or achievements should be reported to the Volunteer Coordinator or the
Manager of the department or ward.

Administration Volunteer Role


Time Commitment
We appreciate any time you can provide during business hours. However, to assist us on an
ongoing basis we would prefer you make a regular time commitment for a minimum period
of 6-months.
Qualifications
To be considered for an Administration volunteer role, you must:

Have completed the formal interview process with the Volunteer Coordinator
Have completed the one-day Orientation program
Have previous experience in general administrative duties
Sound communication and interpersonal skills
Professional phone manner
Ability to adapt and use your skills and experience in different environments
Preferably Microsoft Office and intermediate level computing skills
