Have students Fitzroy word skills workbook.

The students will interact with the activity by pointing out and reading the
title.
The students will also interact by having to read out special words in the
book and vowel sounds.
They will also be engaging with the words in the book, as there are certain
words they will be required to find.
They will be engaged through the reading activity, where they must read the
text individually (taking turns) and then as a group.
The students must answer questions I have directed to them as well as
questions in their workbook.
Students will also be engaged through the drawing and colouring activities in
their workbooks.

Introduction: (5 minutes)
1. Point out title of the storybook and read it out loud, as a group.
2. They must then identify the author and illustrator and explain the meaning of the
words.
Activity:
(35 minutes)
3. As a group the students must then read out the words we know section of the
story, without hesitation. As well as sounding out the new sound, identifying other
words with the same vowel sound.
4. The students must then read special words as a group, again without hesitation.
Then they will try to find these special words within the text. (7 minutes)
5. The text will then be read, with each student taking turns to read one page at a
time. The other students must follow along with their fingers on the words.
6. The students will then read the text one last time, as a group. (10 minutes)
7. Once the text has been read, the students will read the words weve used and
some new words sections as a group, without hesitation.
8. I will then ask the students closed questions regarding the book. Each student will
be given an opportunity to answer two questions. (7 minutes)
9. The students will then complete the corresponding pages in their workbook
related to the Fitzroy #16 text. Help will be provided when required. (11 minutes)

The students will read the words weve used and the some new words
sections of the book to demonstrate their fluency, accuracy and
expression in reading.
The students will also be asked questions relevant to the text to determine
their ability to comprehend the content of the text.
If there is still time available, the students will read the text one last time,
as a group, to reinforce the students skills in reading fluency, accuracy
and expression.

1. The students demonstrated an increased ability to fluently and accurately

read words and vowel sounds within the text.
As a group there was less fluency when it came to reading the text, though they
were accurate with the words they read.
1. Students were able to demonstrate their ability to comprehend the text by
accurately answering the questions I asked them. Though a few students
had trouble with some questions within their workbook.
Self-Evaluation:
There was not enough time given to the workbook activity and therefore students
did not have enough time to complete the activities.
Ensuring student attention was constantly maintained proved more difficult than
expected, more adequate attention gaining methods should have been known and
used throughout the lesson.
