X was born in Poland in 1923, he escaped German occupation in 1939 only to
be captured by the Soviets. He was sent to a labour camp in the Arctic before travelling across Russia to join the Polish Forces under British Command in Persia in 1942. After demobilisation, he studied engineering at Queen Mary College at the University of London. He went on to become one of the worlds foremost experts in concrete and his work continues to be cited to this day. Clue 2: X who spent nine years in charge of the University of Dundee between 1978 and 1987, was the universitys second principal and vice-chancellor. He guided the University through what extremely challenging times, with severe financial difficulties and pressure from many quarters for a merger with other institutions Clue 3: His first book, Properties of Concrete, published in 1963, has been translated into 13 languages and has sold nearly a million copies. In many parts of the world this book is known familiarly as Xs concrete bible. It is one the prescribed textbook/reference books in most of the autonomous and deemed universities in the state, including VTU. Clue 4: X died at the age of 93 on 15th October, 2016.
