Prozesua egunerokoan eta ekintza komunetan ezkutatzen da, gu gara prozesua, prozesuan gaude.
Ekintza orok du prozesu bat; artelan orok dauka
prozesu bat, baina nahiz eta horren jakitun izan,
prozesuko ekintzak ez dira artelanak bezala baloratzen. Horrelako jardunbideak ulertzetik geroz
eta hurbilago gaudela ematen du, baina gaur egun,
oraindik ere, erakunde kulturalek oztopoak jartzen
dizkiete honelako artistei. Material erosoetatik irteten direnek erakundeen indarra behar dute beren
egia kontatuz bide berriak irekitzeko eta borroka
egiteko lan intuitiboari, erraietako lanari, eta kasu
askotan prozesuak edo bideak berak ematen duen
lanari jartzen zaizkion oztopo posibleen aurka, lan
hori faktura artean hozten baita hornitzaileek kostata ekartzen dituzten materialen esperoan. Materiala jaso denean, burua, eta, ondorioz, eskuak beste dimentsio batetara pasatzen dira, beste zeregin
batetara, eta prozesu horretan dago lana.
Miriam Isasi, eskultorea? instalazio-artista? batez
ere, artista, eta gehiago zehaztu nahi izanez gero,
prozesu-artista. Bitartekoa ez da mezua; mezua
bitartekoaren bidez iristen zaigu. Bere proiektu
askotan azken laginak, proiektu barruan egindakoak islatzen dituen erakusketak, argazki, eskultura,
bideo, pintura eta askotariko teknikak baliatzen
ditu, bere lanak erakusteko. Denboran zehar luzatu diren eta jarraitu beharreko bidea erakusten duten ikerketak, pentsamenduak eta lortu beharreko
ideia horiek formalizatzeko modua, esperimentu
batean. Hipotesiak dira; batzuk berretsiak eta beste batzuk baztertuak. Denboran luzatu den eta hipotesi batean oinarritzen den doktore-tesi batean
(hots, ibilbide luzeko ikerketa batean) murgilduta
dagoenez, Miriamen lan artistikoak jardunbide hori
islatzen du. Beharbada horregatik, hain zuzen ere,
bere azken lanetan (horien artean daude erakusketa honetan ikus ditzakegunak eta katalogo honetan
agertzen direnak) bere modus operandia antzeman
daiteke: prozesuan eta ikaskuntzatik hasten den
denboran balio artistikoa duen proiektu edo ideia

rientzia bat. Erakusketa-aretotik benetako mundura aldenduz gero, ez gara bitartekotza-moduez ari,
baizik eta bizitza komunera egokitzeko moduaz.
Erakusketa edo liburua al da bere praktikaren tokia? Erleen dantza erakusten duten piezak, Opium
ad populum eta grabatuak kitsch muga dira, erabaki batean hasten den kate baten berariazko eta
azken formalizazioa azpimarratuz. Arautu gabe
dagoen eta tradizio nagusia jarraitzen ez duen estetikaren aldeko apustu hori adibidez, Art Nouveauren tipografia komertzialak batean eta modaz
pasatako kaligrafia bestean camp ariketak dira,
kulturaren erabilera desbideratuak, nortasuna inguru baldintzatu eta hierarkiko batetara irekitzeko beharrizana adierazten duten moduak, kultura
bera ere kapitalizatua dagoen mundu honetan.
Artistaren desadostasuna eta parasito-izaera
nahiko urrun daude irakurketa erromantikoetatik. Argitalpen honetako eskema estrukturalek
ekoizpen-prozesu baten funtsezko gakoa ematen
dute: esperientziaren eremu buruaskia aparte baina lotuta egon behar dela zehazteko beharrizana;
artistaren prozesua funtsezko egokitzapen gisa,
nabarmen handiagoa eta antagonikoagoa den testuinguru sozialean kontzientzia osoz finkatzeko.

The curators work is a praxis, or accepted protocol, so that curatorial description is a latent exercise: production is tackled as potentiality, and has
the provisional nature of a dialogue
which is always slightly out of phase
when written down. It gives the impression of coming out of a conversation which could have altered the work
presented if it had taken place beforehand, though the advantage of permanent writing is its potential to provoke
a future response or reaction between
the writer and the artist presenting
their work as a space for reflection.
More than an exercise in legitimising,
it is really an exercise in questioning,
and leads inevitably to a differential
balance, that of bad reading, which will
trigger a delayed reaction.
The precise circumstances behind this
text come out of two current projects
of Miriam Isasi, Stolen energy and
There is no crime in natural processes.
The first proposes different records of
survival actions: various uptakes of energy from public spaces such as museums, petrol stations or banks, in order
to recharge a battery which will then
be used in the daily life of the artist.
The second records a land-based action, consisting in applying apiculture
next to opium plantations, used for
medicinal purposes and supervised by
the Civil Guard, in the hope that the
bees might transgress a vague border
which human direct action is forbidden to cross. Both projects refer to the
particular solutions society employs to
face up to reality, taking advantage of
legal loopholes or unregulated gaps.
The examples called up by the artist
to carry out her projects derive from
a praxis defining a way of life with
another differential balance: that of
transgression through the conventions
dictating legality and supposed normal
behavior affecting peoples moral de-
cisions.
The context of both projects is the
present itself, and both generate a
productive destiny as their ultimate
guarantor: whether useable energy
from batteries charged up at anothers
expense, or the honey produced by
bees from opium nectar. The apparent
precision of her questioning of certainties opens the door to its repetition,
rather like pilot projects forming a precise set of instructions to be repeated
by anyone. The intensity of its meaning, genuinely triggering a whole new
context, is the decision to execute, to
manage personal experience around a
framework of the commonplace with
the aim of transforming, exchanging
or yielding up something hardly possible without this calculated set of initial
attempts.
This awareness is not transmitted by
documentation processes. The inputs
are limited to the public domain: energy intake by the artist across all the
power points chosen to charge up, and
the installation and maintenance of
bee-hives around the borders of the
opium field. Once converted into display in the exhibitions area, the batteries will also serve to light up the actual
title of the piece in neon, while in the
apiculture piece, the exhibition will
take on an educational nature, showing the typical bee-keeping suit, audio-visual registers of the process and
also the resultant honey.
The first piece includes the word stolen in its title, an illegal and pernicious
act. The second is literally a negative
legal statement. The physical boundary between the bee zone and the
opium plantation is the same as the
moral border between stealing or not
stealing energy, from a museum for
example. That the bee colony should
be able to fly over human limits, as a

PROCESO
