1. CONSULTANT:

2. CONSULTANCY SERVICES:
The Consultant is required to undertake work for Faculty of Creative Industries
to develop
• Master of Advertising (Study Area - Creative Advertising)
• Graduate Diploma in Advertising (Study Area - Creative Advertising)
• Graduate Certificate in Advertising

Specifically the consultant is required to:


1. Modify course documentation as required by the Courses Working Party by:
• including a statement in the documentation indicating how social, legal,
and ethical issues are dealt with throughout the course
• A statement in the documentation regarding managing the relationship
with industry
• a statement in the documentation regarding the management of the
internship program
• a statement in the documentation providing an explanation of
collaborative projects
• objectives to be expanded to include example.
• develop course level matrix that identifies through assessment strategies
how the course realises all QUT Graduate Capabilities (refer Appendix 1
~ Policy C/1.3 Graduate Capabilities)
• developing discipline-based Graduate Capabilities
• explain what is meant by “examples of best practice”
2. Modify unit outlines for the proposed by:
• Updating references and resources for the four core units with an
identification of those specific to each unit.
• Developing specific criteria for assessment for each assessment item
(including requirements for mark achievement eg. HD, D, S etc).
• Specifying teaching and learning strategies drawing upon an authentic
approach
• Develop unit level aims and objectives that incorporate course wide
Graduate Capabilities.
3. Organise the first two units in terms of identifying guest lecturers from
industry and preparation of teaching/learning materials (including gathering
international and local award winning ads for classes).
4. Develop key elements of the course material for the Intro and Electronic
units.
5. Collaborate with Academic staff in the Creative Industries Faculty (including
Media & Communication and Visual Arts) and with other Faculties (eg.
Business).
6. Develop Course marketing strategy and promotional materials for print and
web-based media in collaboration with Faculty-based marketing services.
7. Undertake liaison with key industry bodies (eg. AWARD, BAD, Advertising
Federation of Australia, Australian Association of National Advertisers) to
ensure relevance of courses to contemporary industry requirements and
trends.
8. Undertake course administration
• Line up potential guest lecturers for the Intro and Electronic units
• Liaise with QUT administration staff on the implementation of the new
course
• Liaise with ETV about the use of facilities and staff in second semester
• Liaise with, and answer queries from other CI Course Co-ordinators
(including making Creative Advertising units available as electives and
elective sequences from other disciplines)
• Organise timetabling and venues (for Intro and Electronic units)
• Order reference and teaching material for the library (and answer queries
from the reference librarian).
9. Facilitate awareness of AWARD School amongst CI students.
10. Answer queries and liaise with prospective students including the
development of a FAQ list.
11. Support the project to resolve any issues identified by the QUT Courses
Working Party regarding the Course.
12. Attend the following meetings
• A week in February before Semester starts to liaise with staff (including
undertake liaison work (3-7 February 2003)
• A further meeting before Easter (7-11 April 2003)

5. TIME FRAME (Clause 3.2)


All deliverables to be submitted to Project Director by 31 May 2003

6. PAYMENTS (Clause 7.1)


(i) Fees - Payment Schedule to Consultant:$10,000 on satisfactory
completion to include all expenses including travel and accommodate to
Brisbane Minimum two visits (as outlined above).

7. COPYRIGHT CLEARANCE

<clause to be inserted requiring consultant to assure relevant copy compliance to


enable QUT to use all resources developed or provided free of copyright
constraints>

8. INVOICING (Clause 7.3)

No money shall be paid to the Consultant until QUT has received an invoice that:
(a) identifies the title of the Consultancy Services, the work performed and the purchase
number (if any); and

It is acknowledged that the fee does not include GST and that if this should be applicable
due to the consultancy overlapping the commencement of GST then this would be in
addition to the above figures and be included on a GST compliant invoice.

This contract supersedes all previous correspondence.
