When we look at Samson we observe

so much
COLOSSAL POWER
and yet so little
CHRISTIAN PRACTISE

What Samson was, God has called us to be

Only BETTER

Some things, like Samson's hair,

take a life3me to grow:
Your reputation
Your relationships
Your credibility
Your character
And yet, that which has taken
a life3me to cul3vate,
can be cut o from one encounter
with Delilah

Joshua 23
12 "But if you turn away and ally yourselves with the survivors of these nations
that remain among you and if you intermarry with them and associate with them,
13 then you may be sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these
nations before you. Instead, they will become snares and traps for you, whips on
your backs and THORNS IN YOUR EYES, until you perish from this good land,
which the LORD your God has given you.

14 But Zion said, "The LORD has
forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten
me.
15 "Can a mother forget the baby at
her breast and have no compassion on
the child she has borne? Though she
may forget, I will not forget you! 16
See, I have engraved you on the palms
of my hands; your walls are ever
before me.

FORGOTTEN
The only reason that God
will allow you to
feel forgotten
is so that you can
remember HIM.

FORGOTTEN
Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good
things
so that your youth is renewed like the
eagles.
The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

FORGOTTEN
Judges 16
Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza.
Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding in the prison.
BUT THE HAIR ON HIS HEAD BEGAN TO GROW AGAIN
after it had been shaved.

But the hair on his head began to grow again

Psalm 138
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes,
with your right hand you save me.
8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me;
your love, O LORD, endures forever
do not abandon the works of your hands.

FORGIVEN
23 Now the rulers of the Philistines assembled to offer a great sacrifice to
Dagon their god and to celebrate, saying, "Our god has delivered Samson, our
enemy, into our hands." 25 While they were in high spirits, they shouted, "Bring
out Samson to entertain us." So they called Samson out of the prison, and he
performed for them. When they stood him among the pillars, 26 Samson said
to the servant who held his hand, "Put me where I can feel the pillars that
support the temple, so that I may lean against them."

FORGIVEN
27 Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the
Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and
women watching Samson perform. 28 Then Samson prayed to the LORD, "O
Sovereign LORD, remember me. O God, please strengthen me just once more,
and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes." 29
Then Samson reached toward the two central pillars on which the temple
stood. Bracing himself against them, his right hand on the one and his left hand
on the other, 30 Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed
with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in
it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

FORGIVEN
Romans 10:13
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Phillipians 2
9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

FORGIVEN
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness.

Luke 23
32 Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with [Jesus] to be executed.
33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along
with the criminalsone on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, Father,
forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: Arent you the
Messiah? Save yourself and us! 40 But the other criminal rebuked him. Dont
you fear God, he said, since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are
punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done
nothing wrong.
42 Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
43 Jesus answered him, Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Hebrews 11
And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Samson and the
prophets who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and
gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the
flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to
strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.
