Who are You Voting For?

I, Lauren Laven, went around to ask some high school students which
candidate they planned to vote for and why. Two students, Addie and
Skylee, commented that they didnt know who they were going to vote for,
but that they had heard the most about Wayne White. I then asked junior
Brianna Pratt who she was voting for. Brianna replied that she was going
to watch the debate to decide, but she had heard the most about Jose
Kenuesee. Junior Lexi Wiebersch responded that she was also going to
watch the debate to decide who to vote for. By the looks of the results I had
gathered, a handful of the Spirit Lake High School students are going to
watch the debate to decide who to vote for in the upcoming senior election.

Rodrigo Dutertes Pledge to Stop

Cursing Lands in the Gutter
Once President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines promised last
week to prevent express, at God's direct request, a few folks within the
deeply Catholic country questioned his religion or the provision of the
wonderful/God-related. The breaking of Mr. Duterte's promise to prevent
swearing didn't receive much coverage within the Philippine print media.
On social media, some users expressed extreme irritation with Mr.
Duterte's behavior: however some Filipinos placed bets on however long
Mr. Duterte's promise would last. As a result of the curses he often had
raised eyebrows by the speech that President Obama "can attend hell." The

answer: a long weekend. "Never enter into medicine," Mr.Duterte had told
the officers. Still, its reappearance marked the top of Mr. Duterte's shortlived travel into language-based self-control.

Fridays Debate for

Kenuesee

Fridays debate went smoothly. Thank you to
those that helped make it happen. The candidates
all did a great job talking about their topics. I will
be talking mostly about Jose Kenuesee, and their stances on issues.
Jose started of the afternoon with a typical video. They showed their
candidate as an educated family man, and explained that Jose is blind
due to a skeeball accident that occurred he was twelve. I question how
that can happen, but that isnt important to this election.

There are a couple disagreements our candidates have, so here
are two:
Syrian Refugees
Kenuesee wants to let as many as possible and all people into the
country to help out.
Bobandy wants to let only orphans into the country, and they want
to do background checks on those being let in.
White will be more limiting.
Marijuana
Kenuesee wants to legalize marijuana with the same restrictions as
alcohol.
Bobandy wants to leave it up to the states
White wants to legalize medicinal marijuana

Because I was only taking notes for Kenuesee at the debate, I
can only speak on his behalf on what they will be doing about poverty.
Kenuesee believes that the government should give out welfare to the
poor, but they should be required to be seeking work, or training for

some type of career. A portion of the welfare given would be required

to go towards education.

The only funny business that came out of the debate was from
Randy Bobandy, surprise surprise. Nick Cornwall and Ryan Maris
help up papers that said Wrong on them while Kenuesee spoke.
Probably disrespectful, but I have to admit it was pretty funny. The
very last thing said by any candidate at the debate was from Ryan
Maris and he said, I dont know if I would support someone running
for congress who hasnt read a book since he was 12. Mark Vander
Veen asked me to put in his reply to this statement in todays paper.
In summary, Mark, Joses campaign manager, feels that the
statement was childish.

Thank you for coming to the debate, and please remember the
election is on Tuesday!
Here is Marks announcement:
In Fridays debate, a claim was called stating that Jose Kenuesee
should not be eligible to be in Congress because he is blind. This
nonsense claim should not be treated lightly. A claim that one
persons visual disability impairs their ability to make decisions is
childish. One claim is that Jose hasnt been able to read a book since
he was twelve, which makes him unfit to serve. Has this person not
read about the Braille system of writing or heard of audiobooks?
Louis Braille, the founder of braille himself, was blind at a young age
and conquered his disability to create the braille system of writing
and become a teacher. Another claim states Jose isnt even blind
because he does not have a dog or a cane. Why would he pretend to be
blind? At the debate on Friday we saw a Jose cutout with his cane. Do
we really want a candidate in Congress that thinks of disabled people
in this way? Jose may not have sight, but he has a vision for our
countrys future.

Randy BoBandy: Confused and

Contradicting
By Mark Vander Veen

Over six million refugees of the Syrian
refugee crisis are internationally displaced. The
United States of America has been expected to
help out in some way to reduce the amount of
displaced Syrian refugees and Randy BoBandy
claims he has the solution. His proposed
solution is to accept 10,000 Syrian refugee
orphans--all under the age of 15. On a separate
issue, Randy BoBandy has taken the stance of
pushing for more of a free market economy,
meaning the government would intervene less
in the lives of citizens. These issues seem to be
contradicting.

If Randy is allowing orphan children to
come to America, how does he expect these
children to reach the United States on their own? If or when they arrive to
the United States, how will these children seek refuge? These children will
have to be part of orphanages or families will take government grants to
help support these children. This system of grants could continue until all
of these children reach adulthood. Randy, how does the government
intervene less in the lives of the people governed yet spend more taxpayer
money for refugees?

Jose Kenuesee understands that a free market means the
government does not involve itself in the lives of its citizens. That is why
we will support letting families legally immigrate to the United States. Once
they enter the country, we will help direct these people to communities
with populations of Syrians so these people are around people they are
familiar with. This method will cost less to American taxpayers and allows
for refugees to enter the U.S. to help these people.

Real Clear Politics, a trusted source for the upcoming election, is a

great tool to see the polls each day. One way you can view who is
ahead, is to look at the electoral map; each state has a specific amount
of electoral votes based on population (Iowa has 6). The candidate
who reaches or surpasses 270 electoral votes is the new President of
the United States. On the map below, states in red are likely to go
Trump, blue are likely to go Clinton, and gray states could go either
way. Iowa is a gray state, which means our 6 electoral votes could
help Mr. Trump or Secretary Clinton.

As of now, Clinton has 208 of the 270 electoral and Trump has 164 of
the 270 needed to win. 14 states, which add up to 166 votes, can go
either way. More updates to come on this election, which will take
place Tuesday, November 8.
