Reflection

My group had finally done with our micro teaching on writing. As for me, the overall
process of the micro teaching went well but surely not perfect because nothing in this world is
perfect. This imperfection is a sign that there is still room for improvement. Our group decided to
teach on topic Superheroes. I was glad to be partner with both Ardini and Fatimah as they are
very dedicated and supportive towards me and each other. We have gone through several
discussion sessions and we exchanged our own opinion before we decided to choose the topic.
This is because to make sure that we will understand the topic clearly and as a result, we taught
the topic very well. We have decided to choose Fatimahs lesson plan as the topic chosen by
Fatimah was simple but interesting.
The activities that we had done in our micro teaching are linked to the principle of
teaching writing. One of the activities that we had done is students need to construct sentences
to describe the superhero given to them using adjectives that they had learned before. This
activity can develop pupils writing skill which is on constructing sentences. It also can develop
pupils thinking skills by describing the superheroes using adjectives.
First and foremost, the lecturers talked about our strength. The strength that we got in
our lesson plan is the activities were suitable for year five students. It is not so easy and not too
difficult. It is very suitable for intermediate students. Besides that, they also told us that we were
very confident in front of the students. Even so, the lecturers told that our one of our
weaknesses is regarding the task sheets that have been distributed to the students. They said it
was too easy and basic for the year five students in the class. So, we need to make it more
challenging. Nevertheless, there are also area that we need to improve which is we must make
sure meaningful application could be added at the end or final stage. For example, we must
make sure that the students can apply the lesson into their daily life.On simulated teaching
aspect, the lecturers said that overall our lesson was systematic and learner-centred. This is
essential as a properly implemented student-centred learning can lead to increased motivation
to learn, greater retention of knowledge, deeper understanding, and more positive attitudes
towards the subject being taught (Collins & O'Brien, 2003). Apart from that, I also have
weaknesses that I need to improve. The obvious one is my dialect. I must change and improve
it to make my pronunciations become clearer and easy to be understand by others. Hence, I
must prepare and improve myself to become a good teacher in the future.

One of the valuable lessons that I was able to reflect upon completing my microteaching
was I realised how important it is to have a lesson plan in order for a lesson to run smoothly.
Without a proper lesson planning, the students lesson might be all over the places. Therefore, it
is vital for a teacher to have his lesson well prepared to ensure a smooth flow in the students
learning processes. Besides, lesson planning is also important as it acts as a guideline for the
teacher and thus can help the teacher during the whole lesson.
To wind up, there is still a lot of area which I need to work on in order to be a better
teacher. My journey is still far ahead from becoming not only an educator but an inspiring and
motivating educator for future generations. The whole process of the micro teaching had
eventually open my eyes to the reality that becoming teacher is not an easy task because it is
someones future that is on stake and one small prick could spoil a childs future. Lastly, I hope
that I will become a great teacher in the near future.
