JAWABAN :
1. In an emergency situation, CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation can be a truly
lifesaving technique. CPR is an important part of any first aid course, and it is something that

everyone should know how to do. Why? Because CPR can provide the means to keep a
person alive long enough to receive professional medical attention. The longer that a human
being goes without oxygen, the more likely severe damage and even death can occur.
Knowing CPR and performing it properly can mean the difference between life and death.
Considering how relatively simple performing CPR is, there is no good reason why you
shouldnt learn how to do it yourself
2. When breating stops first the heart can continue to pump blood for several minutes and
existing oxygen in the lungs and blood will continue to circulate to the brain and other vital
organs. Early intervention in victims in whom respiration stop or the airway is obstructed
may prevent cardiac arrest.
Respiratory Arrest I caused by airway obstruction, despiratory drive,or respiratory muscle
weakness.
3. To assess the presence or absence of spontaneous breathing in a victim, the rescuer's ear
should be placed over the victim's mouth and nose while maintaining an open airway
position. then, while observing the victim's chest, the rescuer should
Look for the chest to rise and fall
Listen for air escaping during exhalation, and
Feel for the flow of air
if the chest does not rise and fall and no no air is exhaled, the victim is breathless. this
assessment should take only 3-5 seconds. if breathlessness is diagnosed, the next step must be
instituted.
4. For CPR to be effective, the victim must be horizotal, supine (lying on the back ),and on a
firm, flat surface, even flawlessly penormed external chest compressions will produce no
blood flow to the brain if the body is in a vertical position.
5. the victim must be rolled as a unit so that the head, shoulders, and torso move
simultaneously-with no twisting (figure 21). (a neck or spine injury may be complicated by
twisting the victim body). The rescuer should kneel beside the victim at a distance
approximately equal to the width of the victims body and at the level of the victim while the
neck is supported. The victims arm . dosest to the rescuer should be raised above the victims

head. The victim legs should be straight or bent slightly at the knees. The rescuer places one
hand behind the victims head and neck (figure 21) for support. The other hand should grasp
the victim under the arm to brace the shoulder and torso. The victim is then rolled toward the
rescuer by pulling steadily and evenly. At the shoulder while controlling the head and neck.
The head and neck should remain in the same plane as the torso, and the body should be
moved as a unit.
