Assessment for Learning

Step 1: Audit

Audit Template 1
Analysing the current provision for your school
This tool is intended for use by the Senior Leadership Team, and a Lead Governor should also be included.
To use the audit tool, work through each question, choosing the relevant grade.
Use the Evidence column to identify your examples of existing good practice (if you ticked box 1) and/or
the case for improvement (if you ticked boxes 2, 3 or 4). Since the perception of current practice may vary
from one area or one person to another, make sure you identify specific evidence that supports your
response. The audit tools in Step 1, Tasks 1.1 and 1.4 will help you to gather the evidence and answer the
questions.
Once you have identified your priorities, these should be incorporated into the relevant action plan. The
action plan should provide details on how your priorities will be achieved and evaluated, who will be
responsible and when it will be fully implemented. Move on to Step 2 of this Pathway, Strategic Planning,
to create an action plan.
For more guidance on filling out your audit, look at the Audit Exemplars for assessment for
learning in Step 1, Task 1.4 of this Pathway.
