On Wednesday, November 9, 2016, 22 little learners that were at the foundational stage of
KG2 were taught by me about a literal lesson of the letter Y. The little learners were of Sama
American Private School that is located in Sharjah city, the UAE. Before giving the actual
lesson to the learners, I had a lesson plan that I made and checked deeply. My monitor school
teacher, Ms. Olga Hattab, knew about all the actions that I would do when demonstrating the
lesson to the learners of her before the day of Wednesday which means that she knew about my
plans on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. I contacted with her about my entire lesson in the school
and on the phone (via WhatsApp) to make sure that my plans were all appropriate to be given to
little learners that were at the age of five years old. Ms. Olga Hattab observed me while I was
teaching the lesson from the beginning of the class until its ending. Moreover, Ms. Olga Hattab
did help me during the activities time where she observed and helped the students while they
were completing the activities. My MST took pictures of me and the students during the entire
class. Note that the pictures were taken for me. All of my MSTs contributions made me feel
happy.
For sure, the literal lesson of the letter Y was delivered remarkably and successfully to the 22
students where the participations, responses, questions, answers, and completed jobs (the
activities) of the students enabled me to know so. The plan that I designed by myself enabled my
lesson to be delivered successfully due to its strong hold of all the parts of the lesson where it
made all the lessons parts worthy things to keep eyes on and include. I had a video about the
letter Y and that was to engage the students within the lesson. I had the pupils observing,
exploring, and explaining their questions and found answers. I also had differentiated activities
that allowed the pupils to learn and extend their prior and gained knowledge more. My lesson
plan depended mainly on the 5E instructional model that is considered to be always included in
lessons parts due to its contributions in producing complete and interesting or exciting lessons
(5Es Overview: The 5E instructional model, n.d.). The five stages of the 5E instructional
model are: engage, explore, explain, elaborate or extend, and evaluate. As it was mentioned
earlier, to engage the pupils, a video was used. The video included a song that introduced and
taught the letter Y, its shape, its sound, and several words that begin with the letter Y. A question
was asked by me about the letter that the three women of the video were signing about. All the
pupils knew the answer and participated so nicely. The pupils could explore if that the seen letter
of the video was written as an upper or a lower case by thinking of it. Because the students knew
that the seen letter of the video was written as the upper case of the letter Y, they knew the lower
case of the letter Y. To find the lower case of the letter Y, the pupils sought for the lower case of
the letter among other two lower cases of the letters M and X. All students worked together to
find the correct answer, and they discussed their thoughts together and with the teacher (I). The
learners explained their answers of that the upper and lower cases of the letter Y were written in
specific and various ways. They learned about the correct ways of writing the both cases of the
letter, and they practiced writing the both cases in the classrooms air. The learners were asked to
remember the sound of the letter Y where they knew about the sound of the letter from the
played video, and they did give a correct answer. Some of the pupils sounded the letter wrongly,

so the teacher (I) corrected that. When all students sounded the letter correctly, they learned
about words that have begun with the letter Y. Some of the learned words were known about
because of the played video in the part of engagement. The learners got an opportunity to find
words that have had the letter Y. Many students names were mentioned according to that. The
knowledge of the learners was extended by another musical song that reviewed the letter Y and
taught the learners more words that have begun with the letter Y. The three differentiated
activities helped in evaluating the learners understanding of the given lesson. The three
differentiated activities showed that the students have understood the actual lesson and allowed
students to practice and use their gained knowledge. My lovely MST and all the lovely 22 little
learners were involved strongly and wonderfully within the entire lesson. All the lessons
objectives were achieved fabulously. My plan, ideas, and teaching way were loved by Ms. Olga
Hattab and the learners where they all praised me in a lovely way. My monitor school teacher
told me that everything was remarkable and that I had a nice teaching style and wonderful ideas
as well as that I would be a great kindergarten teacher, while the little learners told me that they
loved me when I was teaching them and that they enjoyed the activities a lot. The 22 pupils told
me how they loved the whole lesson with its smallest parts including the provided activities. I
was absolutely happy to hear all the nice words of all the little learners and the MST. All
students had an opportunity to complete the three provided activities. Ms. Olga Hattab evaluated
me and gave me excellent in all the areas of planning for learning, managing learning,
implementing learning, and assessment. If I teach the lesson again, I will use the same lesson
plan and materials due to their contributions in allowing me to give an exciting and lovely
lesson, and I will not change any part of it due to not facing any problems while giving the lesson
to the learners. Nothing could make me disappointed and feel lost which means that I was
satisfied about my whole lesson and class.
I have reflected about my teaching way and lesson in the above paragraph. The overall feeling
that I had about my teaching and lesson was totally satisfying.
