A Tool for Students and Educators

Burning Question:
Our burning question will focus on creating a program that
fulfills/improves upon current anti-bullying policies in regards to
bystander recognition and training to create positive community
outcomes.

Burning Question Rationale:

We found that many of the anti-bullying and anti-harassment policies
were very vague in their wording and never suggested a specific
type of intervention for schools or strategies to empower students.
We thought it would be good to research and design an effective
way to assist students in standing up to bullying, and provide
teachers and school staff with literature and directions on how to use
it.

The Process:
Taking our inspiration from the What to Do if
You are Witnessing Islamophobic Harassment
created by Maeril, a French Middle Eastern
woman, we decided to design a similar tool using
the comic format.
By researching current policies in place, facts
about bystanders in bullying situations and
adapting the steps found in the comic, we
constructed both a training/informational video
and a brochure that we intend to refine and then
distribute to schools throughout San Antonio.
