Problem Identification
Clayton County schools have an average CCRPI score of 62 for elementary schools (14 points
below state average) 62 for Middle Schools (9 points below state average) and 68 for High
Schools (7 points below state average). Clayton County Schools has adopted the explicit
instruction teaching frame work, and identified that students are struggling in areas such as math,
and reading comprehension.
This year in Clayton County we have seen in the introduction of a new Chief Improvement
Officer, Dr. Morcease Beasley. At the beginning of the school year, it was made very clear by our
administration and Chief Improvement Officer that all Clayton County teachers will be expected
to discover new ways to engage our students in an effort to increase CCRPI scores across the
board.
One major issue that Clayton County has identified is the use of remediation. In faculty meetings
this year, our Administrative teams have expressed concerns about how remediation is used.
Normally students do not receive remediation until they have already underperformed on an
assignment or exam. The new expectation is that we remediate while students are learning new
concepts so that they receive more assistance on the front end, before they are evaluated.
I believe that Screencast-O-Matic will provide teachers with an option to assist students in this
way.

Part II: Learner Analysis
Introduction
The audience in this class is made up of certified teachers specifically in the CTAE field (Career
Technical and Agricultural Education) and special education teachers. The staff consists of 12%
Caucasian female, 54% African American female, 4% Caucasian male and 30% African
American male. The ages of the staff members range from 29-54.

Prior Experience:
Although many learners have never used screen casting software before, learners will find that
the interface is very similar to other media programs that they have used. Learners will also feel
more comfortable when they understand that this software can be used to make tasks that they
already complete easier and more efficient.
Attitudes toward Content and Academic Motivation
Clayton County schools has always prioritized the importance of effective Teachers at all schools
understand the importance of incorporating technology into their classrooms and would like to
know an easier way to have students access and turn in assignments.
One issue that some teachers have experienced, is that many teachers have become comfortable
with using traditional methods to teach students. Teachers have reported feeling overwhelmed
when learning to use a new software application or technology for the first time.
Learners have expressed the adequate training has assisted with the transition to using more
technology in their lessons. Teachers have also expressed that demonstrating practical uses for
technology in the classroom also helps with this transition.

Group Characteristics
The school is located south of Atlanta in Jonesboro, GA where the median income is below the
national average. The classroom teachers range from 1-30 years of experience that teach in a
Title I school. The subjects taught range from Business, Healthcare, Family and Consumer
Science and Video Broadcast Production. All teachers are involved in CTSOs (Career Tech
Student Organizations). Teachers also reported being responsible for other activities like
coaching, senior class advisers, yearbook club etc.

Part III: Task Analysis
I conducted the research using both a topic analysis and a procedural analysis to ensure I
captured all relevant information. Since most of the learning that will take place will be
procedural, I have created an outline that will detail the steps that learners will be taking. To
ensure that the outline was correct, I completed the steps myself to ensure that the explanations
provided were clear.
