Reading:
Eva is currently reading at the expected standard for Year Five. She
is confident when reading aloud and uses some expression. Eva
reads to some punctuation and usually attempts unfamiliar words.
She can confidently answer literal and reorganisation of the text
questions when reading fictional texts.
Next learning steps:
Be able to answer comprehension questions about the main ideas
by finding evidence to support the answer in the text.
Continue to build knowledge of vocabulary.
Develop evaluation of the text ideas and justify ideas clearly.
Maintain regular reading practise aloud and to self.

Writing:
Eva is able to recall main events in order for a recount. She is
developing her understanding of main ideas and is choosing to use
details which are the most relevant for the text. Eva uses the task
criteria to guide her writing and is able to find evidence of the criteria
in her work.
Next learning steps:
Develop sentence structure and edit for improvement.
Turn grouped ideas into paragraphs.
Continue to edit for punctuation and spelling.
Understand tenses and which is appropriate for each genre.

Mathematics

Attitude to learning:
Eva demonstrates she is able to find and utilise information for 1 or
more sites and through discussion with others is able to put some
information into her own words to explain an idea. She was able to
plan a design to meet a criteria and is starting to critically evaluate
her design and ideas to look for strengths, weaknesses and
improvements. Eva works well in small groups and is building her
confidence in asking more questions and sharing her ideas. She is a
friendly member of Room 10.

Mathematics:
Eva is working just below where she needs to be to achieve at the
standard for year 5. She is confident when adding single digit
numbers or numbers up to 20. Eva is able to use her times tables up
to the 5s confidently and quickly to find solutions. She can share out
evenly using halving.
Next learning steps:
Opt in regularly to target learning sessions and develop confidence
to ask questions to consolidate learning.
Develop quick and accurate recall of all times tables.
Understand and use the start from the right and place value rules.
Visualise or use imaging especially for fractions.
