Pencil Sharpener
Steps
Students can use pencil sharpener before bell ringing without permission.
Students must raise hand and ask for permission to sharpen pencil during class. If the
student asks while instruction is taking place, student will be directed to wait until an
appropriate time.
Student may sharpen one pencil when given permission.
Reasoning
To prevent disruption of instruction and maintain a quiet working environment.
How to teach
Explanation on the first day of class.
Have a constant visual reminder in schedule at the front of the classroom.
When will procedure be taught
At the beginning of the year, expectation will be explained.
Verbal reminders will be given for the first two weeks before the bell rings in order to
reinforce appropriate behavior.

1:1 Devices
Steps
Bring Chromebook daily, charged.
Have Chromebook ready at corner of desk.
Only use your own Chromebook.
Teacher will determine when class headphones are needed. When given permission,
students will check out their assigned headphones number.
Never put Chromebook on floor.
Only have tabs open specific to assignment, close as directed.
Lower screen when asked by teacher for instruction (without closing completely).
Reasoning
To prevent distraction by Chromebook.
To prevent damage to Chromebook.

Hallway Behavior
Steps
Student must gain permission from teacher to be in hallway, via a hallway pass.
Student will proceed directly to destination.
While walking to and from destination, the student will remain on the right side of the
hallway with hands and feet to themselves.
Student will remain on task and avoid hallway conversations and distractions.
Reasoning
To maintain a safe, quiet hallway environment.
To minimize time out of the classroom.
How to teach
Rules for the hallway, will be discussed and written on the back of the hallway pass.
For the first two weeks, the student will have to tell the teacher the rules of the hallway,
prior to receiving pass.

Lining Up
Steps
Students display they are ready to line up by being quiet in their seats.
Students line up in preassigned order by 5s.
Students show they are ready to move on into the hallway by standing in line quietly,
awaiting release by the teacher.
When students follow 1-3, proceed down the hallway.
If students are unable to follow 1-3, then restart at desks.
Reasoning
To be respectful to other classes.

Steps
Students will obtain paper through designated paper deliverer.

Student deliverer will be decided by a job posting on board rotated monthly by teacher.

Steps
Anytime the noise level of the class rises or the teacher needs to get the attention of the
class.
The teacher will say 1, 2, 3, eyes on me.
The class will respond with 1,2, eyes on you.
The students will then give their full attention to the teacher and await instruction.

Provides students with a clear message for when the teacher needs their attention.
Allows the teacher to gain the attention of the classroom in an effective manner.
