The contribution that i had done, iam doing, and I will do
for people / organizations / institutions / profession in my community Introducing, my name is Dewi Ayu Astari Paramitha. I used to called Dewi. I was born and spent my childhood in Surabaya. Being raised by parent that work in health services has made me dream to be a doctor since i was kid. Praise to God, after graduated from Taruna Dra Zulaeha senior high school i got chance to study at Medical Faculty Sebelas Maret University. After finished , i underwent internship program in Pemalang. As i worked in primary health care and in the hospital, having interaction with patients family, the doctors, and another medical worker i realized Indonesia has a lot of homework that need to be done. For example imbalance distribution of medical worker especially doctor, national health insurance, and facilities in primary health care. Trying to give contribution to those problems i decided to join PTT program organized by the Regional Government of East Java. I was placed in Pacitan and got a chance to be a doctor in Tulakan Health Centre. Pacitan is located in south coast of Java, the boundaries between east java and central java which is have mountainous and hilly characteristic. The land characterities becoming a problem for people accessing health facilities. Tulakan health centre located about 25 kilometers from the city of Pacitan. Tulakans working area cover 11 villages with population estimated at 60.000 people and there are only 2 doctors including me. Everyday i work in emergency room, ward, general clinic, and maternal clinic. I also do health counseling and screening for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in some villages. Sometimes i also asked to give health counseling in some group discuccion of students, cadres, teachers or community leaders. As we know, preventive care plays an important role in keeping people as healthy as possible. And it will be easier to do if we can encourage people to live a healthy life. The maternal mortality ratio is an indicator of health services in a country. Indonesias maternal mortality ratio is one of the highest in South East Asia. So many factor involved like educational background, sosio-economic profile, governments strategy, access to reproductive health services, and the important part is limited availability and imbalance distribution of health staff especially obstetrician. The risk of pregnancy complication increase by some condition like too young, too old , having too many children, and having pregnancies too close. Multiple factors that can be barrier to accessing emergency obstetric care known as Three delays : delay in making decision to seek care, delay in arrival at health facility, delay in getting adequate care. As a general practitioner i always want to provide optimal health care. If i get a chance to study in specialist program of obstetric and gynaecology, i hope i can contribute to reducing maternal mortality ratio in Indonesia. I want to build a community that can encourage woman and girls knowledge about maternal health issues so that together we can reduce maternal mortality ratio in Indonesia. By saving womanhood i hope Indonesia will have a better generation in the future.
