Reflective Journal on the sixth, seventh and eighth lesson plans

Pedagogical Practice V
After having received all the feedback and corrections from my tutor, and after all the process
I have had with my students, everything started to work out in a much better way, in
comparison to the implementation of the first lesson plans. It is very rewarding to know that
after some time and effort, things can be improved in a very meaningful way.
In the sixth lesson plan in particular, which was about family members and the verb to wear, I
noticed that students learnt most of the words in a relatively easy and quick way; and at the
time of solving the exercises assigned they did it without great efforts. This is a prove that
even when students have a low level in the language, they can achieve big things if they are
willing to do it.
In the implementation of the seventh lesson plan, which was this time about family members,
students didnt have much trouble with the vocabulary that was previously known by them; but
with the words that were totally new for them, they had some problems and took some time in
the process of acquire this vocabulary and starting to use it in the solution of the given
exercises. Such was the case, with all -in law, step- and god- family members. Other words
that were difficult for them included groom, bride, fiance and fianc. But the class was not
negative at all; after some practice, students began to be more and more familiarized with this
new vocabulary; making a god job in the solution of the assigned exercises.
In the eighth class, which was related to school supplies, everything went swiftly and
smoothly. Students appreciated very much this lesson because it was about a topic that is
really important for them, as they use these words every day in their classes. Most of words
were easy for them, with the exception of scissors and stapler, but after some time of
practice and some written exercises, they were able to use these words in the assigned
exercises. This class also included the possessive adjectives, which is also a very relevant
topic for the students daily lives. So, the students participated in all the proposed activities,
games, exercises, and warming up, with a very positive attitude.
After finishing each lesson, we used some time to prepare the final project, which will be a
short play about school supplies and a presentation with Power Point slides, about Colombia,
its people and its natural resources.
Students are very motivated and have been preparing everything with a very great effort,
which is also a motivation for me as a teacher, because it shows me that although
challenging, we can make a very good job in all our students, if it is our purpose.
