Starting with Materials (Part 2)

Objectives & Learning


Outcomes

Students will:
Collaborate with team members to create a google
slideshow on the project that they came up
Communicate their presentation with the class
Compare the different ideas that students came up with

Rationale

This part of the Starting with Materials lesson provides students


with the opportunity to use a digital tool to synthesize their ideas
into a presentation. Students will gain practice collaborating with
their team while creating the presentation and then employing
verbal communication skills in order to present it to the class.
Students will also practice importing a digital image for their
presentation.

Students decide how to organize a presentation.

Students collaborate with one another to create a Google
Slides presentation.

Students practice written communication through creation
of the Google Slides presentation.
Students practice verbal communication through their oral

Procedure

Model Google Slides (15 min)


1. Instruct students that they will be transferring their written
steps on google docs onto a google slides document.
Their document must have at least eight slides with the
eight different components of the scientific method.

2. Show students how to open google slides and remind


them of the different features
Students create google slides presentation (40 min)
1. Students create google slides presentation
2. Students include picture from previous lesson in one of
the slides
3. Teacher double checks presentation when students are
finished
Students present slides to the class (25 min)
1. Students present their slides to the class
2. Students get to see the different ideas that their
classmates generated
Closing (5 min)
1. Properly put away chromebooks
