Objectives & Learning

Outcomes

Students will:
Know the difference between a claim and evidence and
reasoning

Rationale

When students write the conclusion piece of their lab reports, they
must identify what they claim after the experiment has been
conducted and provide evidence from the experiment to support
that claim. This is a critical skill that students will use throughout
their science education.

Critical Thinking:
Students differentiate between a claim, evidence and
reasoning.
Collaboration:

Culturally
Responsive/Inclusive
Strategies

Provide language support with word wall and terms on the

board for claim, evidence and reasoning
Visual support is given with graphic organizer

Differentiation

Students can come up with several examples of their own

on claim, evidence and reasoning
