Collaborative Digital Writing

Objectives & Learning

Outcomes

In this lesson, students will:

Use Google Docs to write the conclusion and reflection
section for the experiment
Identify the claim and evidence from the experiment and
put it into writing
Collaborate with a partner on Google Docs

Rationale

Students must practice writing a coherent conclusion in a

paragraph form using the elements of claim, evidence and
reasoning. Claim, evidence and reasoning is a skill that is
vertically aligned throughout their science education. Students
can learn from one another by writing together. Students
differentiate between a conclusion and a reflection.

4 Cs Addressed

Critical Thinking:
Students identify the claim and evidence from the
experiment. Students generate the reasoning that ties the
claim and evidence together. Students articulate these
three elements into a coherent paragraph.
Collaboration:
Students collaborate with their partner digitally and
verbally to create the paragraph.
Communication:
Students practice written communication through the
Google Doc. Students practice verbal communication with
their partner.
