Environment Asia Pacific
Primary Purpose of Position
The general role of the Water Lead is to support the water business across SMECs Asia Pacific Division profit
centre by:
Implementing the water strategic and business plans
Undertaking business development
Managing water opportunities in a specific area of the Division, including EOI and proposal preparation
Acting as Project Manager on projects in Philippines
Working closely with the Global Water and Environment Functional Group
Key Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of SMECs strategic and business plans for the water market in the
Philippines.
Assist Region/Country/Subsidiary Managers in identifying and tracking business opportunities; jointly
agree with the Water Manager, Water and Environment (W&E) Asia Pacific and other Managers to
enter into appropriate partnerships/associations and form strategic alliances with other agencies to
enhance business opportunities and marketability.
Support client relationship identification engagement development and management.
Act as Client Manager for select Clients as agreed upon with the Water Manager.
In coordination with the Water Manager, nominate staff for project assignments.
Manage projects in the Philippines and report performance to teh Water Manager, Asia Pacific.
Coordinate with International Managers regarding resource utilisation.
Ensure that project deliverables are reviewed internally at appropriate stages for all water projects and
project outputs meet contractual obligations in terms of timeframe, technical standards, and quality.
Manage water engineering teams locally and internationally to deliver projects in the Philippines..
Provide key expert inputs to projects, as required.
Market SMECs Water Sector with clients and prospective clients by collaborating with the Divisional
W&E Group and the Regional Managers in each profit centre.
Provide technical support and develop technical capacity in the water and environment discipline to
regional subsidiary companies when required
Provide mentoring as required.
Liaise regulalry with Water Manager, Asia Pacific, reporting on live projects, pipeline projects, client
liaison, business development and SMEC local water requirements

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Formal degree in Civil or Water Infrastructure Engineering or related discipline (Post-Graduate degree
preferred but not essential)
At least 15 years experience within the Water Infrastructure Sector in the Philippines (at least 10 years
within a large International Consulting Company preferred) with a good/reputable status
Key demonstrated experience:
Project management
Engineering team management (Including detailed engineering design)
Business development
Client management
Good knowledge of the water sector and its Clients in the Phillipines with a full understanding of the
Public and Private Sector opportunities
Good knowlefge of funding arrangements to support service delivery
