LOADING EXERCISES

Alpha:
1. Determine the maximum weight of fuel at take-off. The pilot weighs 80kg. Three
passengers (80kg, 70kg and 75kg) and 90kg of baggage (in the baggage
compartments) are to be loaded. Basic Empty Weight = 1015kg, IU = -200.
2. Determine the maximum weight of fuel at take-off. The pilot weighs 55kg. Five
passengers (60kg, 60kg, 70kg, 72kg and 80kg) and 80kg of baggage (in the
baggage compartments) are to be loaded. BEW = 998kg, IU = -300.
3. Determine the maximum luggage possible if 5 passengers and full fuel is carried.
Assume pilot and passengers weigh 77kg each. BEW = 829kg, IU = -260.
4. The aircraft is loaded with 4 passengers and full tanks. Assume the pilot and
passengers weigh 77kg each. Baggage is 90kg. BEW = 830kg, IU = -270. The
passengers express a desire to sit as far forward as possible. How would you seat
them?
(a) Two in row 2, two in row 3.
(b) One in row 1, one in row 2, two in row 3.
(c) One in row 1, two in row 2, one in row 3.
(d) It is not possible to carry all four passengers without off-loading baggage.
5. Am empty aircraft is to be ferried. Assume the pilot weighs 77kg. BEW = 830kg,
IU = -250. Do you require ballast and, if so, how much?
(a) No.
(b) Yes, 20kg in rear locker.
(c) Yes, 45kg in rear locker.
(d) Yes, 30kg in forward locker.
6. Determine the maximum fuel on board at take-off to carry 5 passengers with
maximum possible luggage. Assume the pilot and passengers weigh 77kg each.
BEW = 900kg, IU = -230.
(a) Full tanks, 45kg in fwd bag compartment, 45kg in rear bag compartment
(b) Full tanks, 10kg in fwd bag compartment, 45kg in rear bag compartment
(c) 300L, 45kg in fwd bag compartment, 45kg in rear bag compartment
(d) 300L, 45kg in fwd bag compartment, 8kg in rear bag compartment

Bravo:
1.

EW = 1265lbs
IU = 101.5
Drainable oil = 15lbs
Row 1 pilot = 170lbs, 1 passenger = 180lbs
Row 2 2 passengers = 260lbs (total weight)
Baggage compartment 95lbs baggage
What is the maximum quantity of useable fuel that can be on-board at take-off?
(a) 150lbs
(b) 190lbs
(c) 215lbs
(d) 222lbs
(e) 306lbs

2. With all occupants on-board and full fuel the gross weight is 2125lbs with 194 IU.
Determine maximum possible load in the baggage compartment.
(a) 10kg
(b) 18kg
(c) 34kg
(d) 53kg
(e) 75kg

Charlie:
1.

EW = 689kg IU = 19,520

Drainable oil = 8 US Quarts Useable fuel = 140L

Row 1 pilot = 65kg, 1 passenger = 45kg

Baggage compartment 75kg cargo
What is the maximum possible weight of cargo put in Row 2?
(a) 94kg
(b) 110kg
(c) 135kg
(d) 154kg
2.

With all occupants on board, ZFW = 858kg, CG lies 2990mm aft of the datum.
At take-off there is to be 34.3 US Gallons of useable fuel in the tanks.
Determine the maximum possible weight of cargo that can be added to the
baggage compartment.
(a) 165kg
(b) 122kg

3.

(c) 73kg

(d) 10kg

Calculate the maximum fuel you may carry on a flight in a Charlie aeroplane
with three passengers. EW = 687kg, IU = 19,522.
Given: pilot = 77kg, passengers = 70kg, 72kg and 68kg, baggage = 26kg.
(a) 160L
(b) 150L
(c) 120L
(d) 110L
