Objective of the experiment:

- Our objective to this experiment is to get the exact time of reaction, to
explain what reaction did mentos and coke have and list the elements have
in this experiment.

Materials:
1 Small Bottled Coke 275 ml
5 Pieces of Air cool Mentos

Explanation to the experiment:

We see that when Mentos put in the bottled coke it explodes like volcano in
a split second. Because Its mostly due to a process called nucleation, where
the carbon dioxide in the soda is attracted to the Mentos (they are awfully cute).
That creates so much pressure that the soda goes flying. We then built nozzles
that make the opening smaller and that makes the geysers go even higher.
Mentos contain sugar, wheat glucose syrup, hydrogenated coconut oil, rice
starch, gum arabic, sucrose esters of fatty acides, gellan gum, natural flavors.
The fruity ones have additional flavors and colors added, so do the sugar free.

And Coke contains High fructose corn syrup, Fluid extract of Coca, drams,
Citric acid, Caffeine, Sugar, Water, Lime, Vanilla, Caramel.

Properties of the materials used:

Coke - is a fuel with few impurities and a high carbon content, usually made
from coal. It is the solid carbonaceous material derived from destructive of lowash, low-sulfur bituminous coal. Cokes made from coal are grey, hard, and porous.
While coke can be formed naturally, the commonly used form is man-made. The
form known as petroleum coke, or pet coke, is derived from oil refinery coke units
or other cracking processes.
Mentos - have a strange chalky color and texture and they do taste rather like
antacid tablets. If the chalkiness comes from carbonates, the fizzing might be
explained as a neutralization reaction that produces CO2.

Details of the experiments:

Time Delay of explosion: 2 sec
Time of Explosion: .60 seconds
Mentos used: 5 mentos
ML of coke used: 275 ml

Other Information and Related things to the Experiment:

- These photos shown is the result after the explosion of called Nucleation
as you can see half of the 275 ml coke are gone in just 5 pieces of mentos
how much more if we used 6 or more.
