Further down the road, if the Minneapolis City Council approves revoking all of Mr. Frenzs rental licenses
and all legal challenges are exhausted, you will be notified about this action and will be given advance
notice and time to find new housing before the City of Minneapolis takes any action that would require
your building to be vacated.
This Citys process does not require you to take any action until the
process is complete.

Do I have to move?
You do not have to move as a result of this action. This is the beginning of a process that will take some time. If
the City Council decides to revoke the rental license, tenants will be notified and will be given time to move.

If the City Council does revoke the rental license, how much time will I be given to move?
The City has broad discretion regarding determining a moving date. We know moving can be disruptive and we
will try to diminish the inconvenience as much as possible. With respect to personal lives, we understand there
may be concerns such as school year calendars and a tight rental housing market. We will try to give as much
notice as possible once a vacate date has been determined for your building.

When will the City Council make a final decision regarding revoking the rental license of Stephen Frenz?
It could take many months before the City Council makes a final decision regarding revoking the rental license of
Stephen Frenz. The landlord has ten (10) days to appeal this first decision to revoke his rental licenses. If he does
not appeal the decision, the City will proceed with the revocation process. Most likely, the earliest the City Council
would vote on the revocation would be spring of 2017. Without Mr. Frenz appealing the revocation, the earliest
the building would need to be vacated would be spring of 2017. If he does appeal, it will take much longer.
If the landlord appeals, the appeal will be heard by the Community Development & Regulatory Services
Committee of the City Council. The Committee will make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council
will make a final decision regarding revoking the rental license. If the City Council decides to revoke the rental
license, the landlord has sixty (60) days to appeal this decision to a Minnesota Court of Appeals. If the Court of
Appeals decides to hear the appeal, this could up to or more than one year for a final decision. If the Court of
Appeals decides to revoke the rental license, the landlord can appeal the decision to the US Supreme Court. If the
US Supreme Court decides to hear the appeal, this could take up to or more than one year.

Will my lease be renewed if no revocation decision is made before the end of lease? If so, who will contact me
about a new lease?
The revocation process does not affect the lease or any other agreement you have with the property
owner/manager. Stephen Frenz remains your landlord until a final decision by the City Council has been made or
he sells the building. The decision to renew your lease remains with your property owner/manager. If your lease is
not renewed, contact your property owner/manager directly. If you have questions regarding your legal rights as

If I decide to move at the end of my lease, who will give me my security deposit?
The revocation process does not affect the lease or any other agreement you have with the landlord or property

Cundo tomar una decisin final el Consejo Municipal respecto a la revocacin de la licencia para
alquiler?
Podra tomar varios meses antes de que el Consejo Municipal tome una decisin final con respecto a la
revocacin de la licencia de alquiler de Stephen Frenz. El propietario tiene diez (10) das para apelar esta
primera decisin de revocar sus licencias de alquiler. Si no apela la decisin, el Consejo Municipal va a
proceder con el proceso de revocacin. Probablemente, lo ms temprano que votara el Consejo
Municipal sobre la revocacin sera primavera de 2017. Si el Sr. Frenz no apela la revocacin, lo ms
temprano que el edificio tendra que ser desocupado sera primavera de 2017. Si l decide apelar la
revocacin, tomar mucho ms tiempo.
