Instruction of the Coordinate Data Communication Software

(MPE 822L/825L Total Station)

Summary:
This software (MPE_CMO V1.0.exe) could be used for data communication between the
MPE 822L/825L Total Station and the PC. Functions including: sending and receiving
coordinate data, receiving survey data and data file, and opening and saving files (into
variable formats), etc.
A. Installation
Click MPE_COM V1.0 setup.exe to install the software on your PC. Please establish
connection between the computer and the total station through the serial port before
run this software. Make sure the series baud rate of the total station is 1200.

B. Data Download from Total Station to PC

(1). Cable Connection:
Connect the communication interface with the serial interface such as interface 1(com1)
on the PC and then start this software on the PC after checking.
(2). The operation on the PC (After starting this software):
If you choose communication interface, such as serial interface1 (com1), the com1 should
be selected. Select ConnectCoordinate Data Receive button, and the PC will be in
the state of receiving and waiting.
(3). The operation on the Total station:
a).Power on the instrument, and let the vertical angle pass 0;
b).Press MENU to enter into menu;
c).Press F3: memory management to enter into memory management 2-1;
d).Press F4: page to enter into memory management 2-2;
e).Press F2: data communication to enter into data communication page;
f).Press F1: sending data to enter into the page of sending data;
g).Press F2: sending coordinate data to enter into the page of file choosing;
h).Press F2: list to choose the file which the data will be sent is in;
i).After confirming the data, press F4: enter to send the data.
Then the Total station begins to transfer the measured data to the PC. The PC will display
the measured data after the transfer is over.

C. Data Upload from PC to Total Station

(1). Cable Connection:
Connect the communication interface with the serial interface such as interface 1(com1)
on the PC and then start this software on the PC after checking.
(2). The operation on the PC (After starting this software):
If you choose communication interface, such as serial interface1 (com1), then com1
should be selected. Select ConnectCoordinate Data Send button, and the PC will
be in the state of sending and waiting.
(3). The operation on the Total station:
a).Power on the instrument, and let the vertical angle pass 0;
b).Press MENU to enter into menu3-1;
c).Press F3: memory management to enter into memory management 2-1;
d).Press F4: page to enter into memory management 2-2;
e).Press F2: data communication to enter into data communication page;
f) Press "F2: receiving the coordinate data" to enter select the file interface;
g) Press "F2: list" Select a file to store data;
h) Determine the file name is correct, press the "F4: OK", receiving the data

D. Notes:
(1) On the upload (or download) process, first select the send date (or receive
data) button on PC software, then operate on the total station, otherwise there will
be a communication error.
(2) Sometime, due to communication handshaking unsuccessful, the communication
will fail. Please cancel it, and repeat the steps again.
