sure.
3. Before beginning to read I will instruct
students to look for character traits
within the book I will be reading.

2. Demonstrate objective (model); reference

book as needed, provide examples (e.g.,
visuals, demonstrations for objective).

4. As I read I will stop and make sure

students are following along with the
content of the book by asking
questions that they can turn an talk to
their partner about.

5. Ask questions, stimulate discussion where

students also ask questions and share with
peers. Provide feedback.

6. As I read Ill ask questions along the

line of Discuss whats currently
happening? What do you think is
going on? When the students answer
those questions well discuss and see if
anyone has anything else to add to
that.
7. I will choose to stop at various pages in
the book and not stop at every page to
ask my questions.
8. Ill ask what character traits have you
noticed so far?

9. Evaluate student understanding of the

objective.

10.Once Ive finished reading we will

discuss character traits they noticed in
the book so everyone is on the same
page.
11. Next, I will instruct the students on
what is expected next.
12.Ill inform them that they need to think

of character traits that they have
noticed throughout the book and write
them in their writing journals.
13.I will give students each a cut out
character that they will write their
traits in and once theyve finished they
will glue it or tape it to their
reading/writing journals
14.Once theyve glued it inside their
journals they will use text evidence to
support their thinking on why they
choose the character traits they did.
15.Because it is glued they will be able to
access this as a resource for future
