ABSTRACT
This study conducted to identify ICT Facility in library and its usage. To find out which form of resources ie.
Printed books and online journals are preferred resources in engineering college libraries. In order to perform this study
questionnaire methods used to collect information from the users and collected data analyzed. From this study we found
that Pen drive is most preferred storage devices among the users followed by CD. Irrelevant and information overload
was the main problem accessing internet. sitting in front of computer too long time is not possible and most the users felt
that licensing cost of e resources too high, and most users agree that system hanging due to virus as the main problem
while accessing online journals.

global arena and been incorporate in organization, managerial, departmental and marketing sector. The activities
which were carried out manually in libraries with so much of pain and strain are being carried out smoothly with
the help of ICT (Information Communication Technology) with greater effectiveness.

NEED FOR THE STUDY

ICT facilitate Interaction with potential information uses. It gives interaction with information resources.
It act as mediation between information resources and users to add value during the information transfer process.
ICT are essential to enable more people to create and use vast amount of distributed information and to contribute
to the quality and quantity available via to web ad future access frameworks. ICT remain closely linked to
advances in high performance computing and networking and both contribute to and validate these technologies.

METHODOLOGY AND LIMITATIONS

25 Questionnaires were distributed to the users of five private engineering colleges in Chennai. Out of
125 questionnaires 118 filled questionnaires received from the respondents (94.4%). Data obtained from the
colleges analyzed under various headings in analysis and interpretation part for this study.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

M. Mazoom Raza, study reveals that Information seeking behavior of CDRI Lucknow reveals that Information
and communication Technology are must for handling complex information and demands of users.
Lohar and Roopashree (2006) have analyzed the collected data to cover the use of electronic resources and how
the electronic resources have improved the academic career of the faculty and also the problems that are faced in using the
electronic resources. They conclude that the main intention of the use of electronic resources has been the academic
interest of the users. Baljinder Kaur, Rama Verma, (2009), It has been found that usage of e-journals is increasing; this is
due to awareness among the users about the library e-resources and services. Owing to an easy access available at various
places in the institute, users are accessing these resources at hostels and departments more as compared to the library.
The users coming to library have decreased.
R Arumugam 2013 resources are for use : Online databases, e- Journals, e-books are use anywhere at any time
ie., 24X7 in 365 days by using ICT. Every Reader his/her Resource: Needs of various types of users satisfied by using
ICT effectively. Like Needs of the users vary from department to department and users to users i.e., IEEE, ASME, ASCE,
EBSCO, DELNET, Science Direct etc., Every resource its Reader: Usage of Resources Vary from users to users which is
highly satisfied by using ICT. Save the Time of Reader: It is the very important aspect of satisfaction of the users as
earliest by using ICT.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

To find out the user time duration for searching information in engineering Colleges.

To identify the users requirement of various information for engineering colleges.

To analyze the users frequency utilization of ICT Facility.

To identify the problem facing while accessing online resources available in the library.

To identify the users purpose of collecting or accessing online resources and satisfaction level of the users.
