INTRODUCTION

UPDATE ME is an android app which is related to

maintaining the information of various day to day
extracurricular activities of the college and also the
weekly schedule of the college Auditorium.
The main objective of this project is to provide the
students information regarding the college events, which
would keep them updated all the time.
Maintaining records of all the inter-collegiate as well
as intra-collegiate events automatically is a time saving
task. This system provides better efficiency and also it is
easy to handle. It includes various details of all the
activities of the institution, both stream-wise as well as
committee-wise.
UPDATE ME is entering the records of events and
retrieving details of the same. As almost 95% of the
students as well as the college staff use smart phones
(android phones) now-a-days, this application is a user
friendly software prepared for the easy access to any user
who handles it. The application is reliable because it
provides correctness after the respective committeeheads / HODs approval for each and every event.

EXISTING SYSTEM
In Present system each and every record is maintained in
registers and Tally/Excel Worksheets, so there is lot of
redundancy in maintaining records.
Also there is no security, since all records are maintained in
registers and important data could be altered easily.
Modification of one record causes to other records related
to that record, so work becomes very critical, so some time data
loss would occur.
Storage of information is costly.
More time is required for reading and adding records in
registers.
Retrieving any old record causes/requires more time if there is
no proper maintenance of the registers or if the register is in
critical condition.

DRAWBACKS OF THE EXISTING

SYSTEM
Existing system which is managed manually is very
cumbersome and redundant. So as a result it has the following
drawbacks:
Time delay
Redundancy
Prone to errors.
Difficulties in report generation.
Consumes large volume of paper work
Lack of security of data

To avoid all these limitation and to make the system work more
accurately, it needs to be automated.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
The aim of proposed system is to develop a system
(android application) of improved facilities. The proposed
system can overcome most of the limitations of the existing
system. The system provides proper security and reduces the
manual work.
