Language Arts

Learning Objective:
Given the opportunity to participate in a read aloud and a discussion, the
students will actively engage in the reading to answer questions regarding
happenings throughout the reading.
Given the opportunity to connect with the story using key details, the
students will color and cut out pictures from the story and place them in the
correct order. This will show that the students understand the key details
because the old woman in the story was afraid of the objects.
Alignment Explanation:
The formative assessment used for this content area was a sort. The students
were able to apply what they learned and practiced during the read aloud to
complete their own sort. This allowed them to apply their knowledge about
the key details in the story.

Math
Learning Objectives:
Given the opportunity to use a number rack, students will be able to count
objects one to one.
Alignment Explanation:
The formative assessment was to observe the students using a number rack.
The Bridges Math Series called for an observational assessment. The
students were using counting and cardinality to move the appropriate
number of beads when shown a numeral.

Science
Learning Objective:
Given the opportunity to participate in an exploration of the senses, TSW
answer questions and share thoughts regarding the characteristics of a
pumpkin.
Alignment Explanation:
The students verbally answered questions about the 5 senses. The students
used a pumpkin to explore each sense, which allowed them to become more
familiar with them. The students could verbally explain their findings.

Social Studies:
Learning Objective:
Given the opportunity to answer questions, TSW be able to apply prior
knowledge about people in the community.
Given the opportunity to participate in a picture sort, TSW be able to
identify what objects each occupation uses to actively engage in the
community.
Alignment Explanation:
The students did a sort on careers to apply what they learned. They were
able to do a whole group sort, then return to their seats to do an individual
sort.
