Lesson Plan 1

1st grade
Standard: 4.1.2.E: Identify how living things survive changes in their environment.
Accommodation: Student can verbally share what animals belong in each habitat.
Student can use iPad for assistance. Student does not have to work with a group if
necessary.
Matching activity: Teacher will cut out animals and habitat signs so students can place
animals in correct habitat. Students will use the cut out animals and place them in their
correct habitat, groups of students will switch/rotate through each habitat. Observing
who participates in each group will be included. Also, use pictures that students bring in
from the internet, magazines, books, etc. There will be three correct animals in each
habitat.

Lesson Plan 2
1st Grade
Standard: S.1.A.1.1.1 Identify a scientific fact as something that can be observed using
the five senses.
Accommodation: Student can work iPad matching game for sense. Student can also
verbally explain answers to worksheet.
Worksheet: Matching the five senses, by drawing lines to each item. This will be
collected and graded. Compare and contrast chart will be used for flower and Hershey
kiss. Students will observe and analyze a real flosser and a piece of candy. They will
brainstorm descriptive words, teacher will write words on bard then students and teacher
will write words in correct placements in the chart.

Standard: 3.1K.A1 Identify the similarities and differences between living and non-living
things.
Accommodation: Student can participate in any way. Some aspects of the observation
documentation will not apply in the same way but be modified.
Observation and documentation: Inquiry assessment checklist of group discussion
and activities. Students will be graded on participation and understanding the concept.
Check student understanding of the four elements necessary for an animal to survive
during observation in lesson.

1st Grade
Standard: Standard 3.1.K.A3 Observe, compare, and describe stages of life cycles for
plants.
Accommodation: If student is unable to cut out labels for Parts of a Plant worksheet,
have it pre cut for the student. If student cannot glue, have aid help. Or, the student can
verbally explain the labels and the correct placements. Using the iPad, also complete the
labeling the plant part through the Seed to Plant.
Worksheet: Students will cut the words out and glue in the correct spot, Students will
also color the plant in. This will be collected and graded.
