Compatibility
This version of CABA Win is tested on and supported by following Windows versions:
Windows XP with .NET 4.0
Windows 7 with .NET 4.0
Please note that .NET 4.0 is a requirement for installing this version of CABA Win.

New installation
Insert CD and wait for the CABA Win Installation shield to open. If the Installation shield doesnt start
automatically double click on CabaWinInstallation.exe on the CD.

.NET 4.0
If .NET 4.0 is not installed on the PC a Preparation for installation (Win .NET) button appears. After the
.NET installation is completed a CABA WIN INSTALLATION button appears. When pressing this button
the CABA Win installation wizard starts. The wizard will guide you through the installation procedure.
It is advised not to change the default directory for installation.
After completed CABA Win installation you need to install drivers for USB RS232 adapters, please
refer to section Installation of Driver below.

Upgrade from any CABA Win version

IMPORTANT! The default installation folder is changed in the version R03C and later versions.
Windows 7
For PC with Windows 7 it is strongly recommended to install CABA Win installation in the default folder
(C:\Megger) and not in C:\Program Files. Note that the breaker list will remain in your old installation
location, e.g. C:\Program Files\Programma\CABAWIN\Spec. To obtain full Windows 7 compatibility
even this folder has to be moved from the C:\Program Files folder.
How to move the folder in which the breaker data is stored
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the location of the old CABA Win installation, e.g. C:\Program
Files\Programma\CABAWIN. Mark all folders below the \Spec folder, except for the ones with negative
numbers. Right-click and select Copy. Browse to the location of the new installation folder, e.g.
C:\Megger\CABAWIN and paste the copied folders into the \spec folder.
Open CABA Win and choose File -> Open -> Breaker list and browse to the new \Spec folder and
press OK. Your breaker list shall now appear in CABA Win.

Note! If your language choice differs from English you have to switch to another language and back
again to your language, otherwise parameter abbreviations and parameter description will be in English.

Installation of Driver

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
Whenever applicable, please run the USB
Driver installation before you plug in the
instrument or adapter to the PC.
A driver for the USB interface to the instrument must be installed before you can use the USB port. The
USB driver is found on the CABA Win CD.
If you are upgrading CABA Win to a newer version and the driver is already installed on your PC you can
disregard the driver installation procedure.

Driver for EGIL

There are four variants of communication interfaces for EGIL using the PCs USB port:
I. ATEN UC232A Bridge (USB to RS232 adapter) connected to the PCs USB port RS232
(Serial) Cable with 9-pin DSUB connected between the ATEN adapter and the EGIL. Four last
digits of EGILs S/N: 1926 and lower.
II. EGIL with USB port and built-in ATEN adapter USB A/B cable between PC and EGIL. Four last
digits of EGILs S/N: 1927 up to 2108. Note that many of these have been upgraded to version III
below. Upgraded units have version R02B written on the S/N label.
III. EGIL with USB port and built-in Silab adapter USB A/B cable between PC and EGIL. Four last
digits of EGILs S/N: 2116 and higher. Note that even S/N below 2116 can have version III due to
that they have been upgraded.
IV. Digitus USB to RS232 adapter connected to the PCs USB port - RS232 (Serial) Cable with 9-pin
DSUB connected between the Digitus adapter and the EGIL. Four last digits of EGILs S/N: 1926
and lower.

Installation procedure for variant I and II

NOTE! The ATEN UC232A adapter does not work with Windows 7. Please replace with a Digitus USB to
RS232 adapter, Megger part number HC-04250.
1. Go to the folder USB Drivers\ATEN on the CABA Win CD
2. Double-click on the file UC-232ADriverInstaller.exe. The installation will start, follow displayed
instructions.
The first time you connect a PC to EGIL, you will be asked to install the communication driver.
1. In the Found new hardware wizard choose No, not this time and click "Next".
2. Choose Install automatically leaving the CABA Win CD into the CD-drive.

Under the "Hardware" tab, choose "Device Manager".
Look at the "Ports (COM & LPT)" submenu and locate the ATEN USB to Serial Bridge
Right-click on the above and choose "Properties".

Unmark the Use FiFo buffers. option
Check the COM Port Number
Click OK and OK again
Start CABA Win and choose Options -> System settings... from the drop down menus.

Your EGIL should now be ready to use together with CABA Win.

Installation procedure for variant III

Go to the folder USB Drivers\Silabs on the CABA Win CD

Double click on the file CP210x_VCP_Win_XP_S2K3_Vista_7.exe
Follow the instructions on screen; accept the license agreement, etc.
Make sure the check box in the dialog below is checked and then press Finish.

5. Once the installation is finished you should receive the below message.

6. Now connect the EGIL to the PC using the USB cable.

7. A couple of small information messages will appear in the lower right of the screen, e.g. Found
new hardware......
8. After a while the below message should appear. Close all programs and then click Yes on the
below message to restart the computer.

3. If the Found New Hard Ware Wizard appears, select the first choice and click Next
4. Follow the instructions given by the Wizard.

Driver for TM1600

There are four variants of communication interfaces for TM1600 using the PCs USB port:
I. ATEN UC232A Bridge (USB to RS232 adapter) connected to the PCs USB port RS232 to fibre
adapter Fibre cable connected between fibre adapter and TM1600.
II. USB to fibre adapter version 1 Short fibre cable connected between fibre adapter and TM1600
USB cable connected between fibre adapter and PC. Part.No. BL-90167 Ver. R01A.
III. USB to fibre adapter version 2 Long fibre cable connected between fibre adapter and TM1600
fibre adapter connected directly to PC. Part.No. BL-90167 Ver. R02A.
IV. Digitus USB to RS232 adapter connected to the PCs USB port - RS232 to fibre adapter Fibre
cable connected between fibre adapter and TM1600.

Installation procedure for variant I

NOTE! The ATEN UC232A adapter does not work with Windows 7. Please replace with a Digitus USB to
RS232 adapter, Megger part number HC-04250.

1. Insert the CABA Win CD or the CD delivered with the USB Fibre adapter into your DVD/CD
reader
2. Plug in the USB Fibre adapter into a USB port
3. The below dialog shall appear. The first installation is for FT232R USB UART. NOTE: If the
dialog below does not appear and the device is Ready to use, there is already a driver installed
and do not upgrade this.

4. Select the first choice and click Next

5. The below dialog appears. The first driver is being copied

6. When installation is ready the below message appears

7. Click Finish to complete installation

8. The second installation should start and the below dialog appears

Neuinstallation
Die CD einlegen und auf das ffnen des CABA Win Installations-Assistenten warten. Wenn der
Assistent nicht automatisch startet, klicken Sie doppelt auf CabaWinInstallation.exe auf der CD.

.NET 4.0
Wenn NET 4.0 nicht auf dem PC installiert ist, erscheint die Schaltflche Preparation for installation
(Win .NET) [Vorbereitung fr Installation (Win .NET)]. Nachdem die Installation von .NET abgeschlossen
ist, erscheint die Schaltflche CABA WIN INSTALLATION. Durch Drcken dieser Schaltflche startet
der Installations-Assistent von CABA Win. Der Assistent wird Sie durch den Installationsprozess fhren.
Es wird empfohlen, das Standardverzeichnis fr die Installation nicht zu ndern.
Nach Abschluss der CABA Win Installation mssen Sie Treiber fr die USB RS232-Adapter
installieren; dazu schauen Sie bitte im spteren Abschnitt Treiberinstallation nach.

Upgrade von jeder beliebigen CABA Win Version

WICHTIG: Das Standard-Installationsverzeichnis wurde bei der Version R03C und neueren Versionen
gendert.
Windows 7
Fr PC mit Windows 7 wird dringend empfohlen, die CABA Win Installation im Standardordner
(C:\Megger) zu installieren und nicht in C:\Program Files. Beachten Sie bitte, dass die Schalterliste
in Ihrer alten Installationsort verbleibt, z.B.C:\Program Files\Programma\CABAWIN\Spec. Um die volle
Windows 7 Kompatibilitt zu erreichen, muss sogar dieses Verzeichnis vom VerzeichnisC:\Program
Files verschoben werden.
Das Verzeichnis, in dem die Schalterdaten gespeichert sind, verschieben
ffnen Sie den Windows Explorer und blttern Sie zu der Stelle der alten CABA Win-Installation durch,
z.B. C:\Program Files\Programma\CABAWIN. Markieren Sie alle Ordner unter dem Ordner \Spec mit
Ausnahme derjenigen mit negativen Nummern. Rechtsklick und Copy [Kopieren] auswhlen. Blttern
Sie zur Stelle des neuen Installationsverzeichnisses, z.B. C:\Megger\CABAWIN und fgen Sie die
kopierten Ordner in den Ordner \spec ein.
ffnen Sie CABA Win und whlen Sie File -> Open -> Breaker list [Datei -> ffnen -> Schalterliste ];
blttern Sie zum neuen Ordner \Spec durch und drcken Sie OK. Ihre Schalterliste sollte nun in CABA
Win erscheinen.

Anmerkung: Wenn Sie als Sprache nicht Englisch whlen, mssen Sie zu einer anderen Sprache und
dann wieder zurck zu Ihrer Sprache umschalten; andernfalls werden die Parameterabkrzungen und
die Parameterbeschreibung in Englisch sein.

Treiberinstallation

WICHTIGE ANMERKUNG:
Lassen Sie, wann immer mglich, die
USB-Treiberinstallation ablaufen, bevor
Sie das Gert oder den Adapter in den
Rechner stecken.
Es muss ein Treiber fr die USB-Schnittstelle zum Gert installiert sein, bevor Sie die USB-Schnittstelle
verwenden knnen. Die USB-Treiber finden Sie auf der CABA Win CD.
Wenn Sie CABA Win zu einer neueren Version hochrsten und der Treiber bereits auf Ihrem PC
installiert ist, knnen Sie den Vorgang der Treiberinstallation auer Acht lassen.

Treiber fr EGIL
Es gibt vier Varianten von Kommunikationsschnittstellen fr EGIL, die die USB-Schnittstelle des PC
verwenden:
V. ATEN UC232A Brcke (USB - RS232-Adapter) an die USB-Schnittstelle des PC angeschlossen
RS232-Kabel (seriell) mit 9pol. D-SUB-Stecker zwischen dem ATEN-Adapter und dem EGIL
angeschlossen. Vier letzte Digits des EGIL S/N: 1926 und niedriger.
VI. EGIL mit USB-Schnittstelle und eingebautem ATEN-Adapter USB A/B Kabel zwischen PC und
EGIL. Vier letzte Digits von EGIL S/N: 1927 bis 2108. Beachten Sie, dass viele von diesen zu
nachstehender Version III hochgerstet wurden. Bei den hochgersteten Gerten steht Version
R02B auf dem S/N-Schild.
VII. EGIL mit USB-Schnittstelle und eingebautem Silab-Adapter USB A/B Kabel zwischen PC und
EGIL. Vier letzten Digits von EGIL S/N: 2116 und hher. Beachten Sie, dass selbst S/N kleiner
2116 aufgrund einer durchgefhrten Hochrstung, Version III haben knnen.
VIII.Digitus USB - RS232-Adapter an die USB-Schnittstelle des PC angeschlossen - RS232-Kabel

Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Kontrollkstchen im nachfolgenden Dialogfenster angekreuzt
ist und drcken Sie dann Finish [Beenden].

13. Sobald die Installation beendet ist, sollten Sie nachfolgende Meldung erhalten.

14. Schlieen Sie nun den EGIL mit Hilfe des USB-Kabels an den PC an.
15. Eine Reihe kleiner Informationsmeldungen wird im unteren rechten Teil des Bildschirms
erscheinen, z.B. Found new hardware..... [Neue Hardware gefunden].
16. Ein wenig spter sollte nachfolgende Meldung erscheinen. Schlieen Sie alle Programme und
klicken Sie dann in der nachfolgenden Meldung auf Yes [Ja], um den Rechner neu zu starten.

Treiber fr TM1600
Es gibt vier Varianten von Kommunikationsschnittstellen fr TM1600, die die USB-Schnittstelle des PC
verwenden:
I. ATEN UC232A Brcke (USB - RS232-Adapter) an die USB-Schnittstelle des PC angeschlossen
RS232-Kabel Glasfaser-Adapter zwischen dem Glasfaser-Adapter und dem TM1600
angeschlossen.
II. USB Glasfaser-Adapter Version 1 Kurzes Glasfaserkabel zwischen Glasfaser-Adapter und
dem TM1600 angeschlossen USB-Kabel zwischen Glasfaser-Adapter und PC angeschlossen.

III. USB Glasfaser-Adapter Version 2 Langes Glasfaserkabel zwischen Glasfaser-Adapter und
TM1600 angeschlossen Glasfaser-Adapter direkt an PC angeschlossen. Art.Nr. BL-90167 Ver.
R02A.
IV. Digitus USB - RS232-Adapter an die USB-Schnittstelle des PC angeschlossen - RS232
Glasfaser-Adapter Glasfaserkabel zwischen Glasfaser-Adapter und TM1600 angeschlossen.

Installationablauf fr Variante I
ANMERKUNG: Der ATEN UC232A Adapter funktioniert nicht mit Windows 7. Tauschen Sie ihn gegen

1. Gehen Sie zum Ordner USB Drivers\ATEN auf der CABA Win CD
2. Doppelklick auf die Datei UC-232ADriverInstaller.exe. Die Installation wird starten, befolgen Sie
die angezeigten Anweisungen.
Wenn Sie das erste Mal einen PC an den TM1600 anschlieen, werden Sie aufgefordert, den
Kommunikationstreiber zu installieren.
3. In Found new hardware wizard [Assistant Neue Hardwar finden] whlen Sie No, not this time
[Nein, dieses Mal nicht] und klicken auf "Next" [Weiter].
4. Whlen Sie Install automatically [Automatisch installieren] und lassen Sie die CABA Win CD im
CD-Laufwerk.

11. Im Register Communication [Kommunikation] whlen Sie die gleiche COM-Schnittstellennummer wie in Abschnitt 8 oben gefunden und klicken auf OK.
Jetzt sollte Ihr TM1600 fr die Verwendung zusammen mit CABA Win bereit sein.

Installationablauf fr Variante II und III

11. CABA Win CD oder die mit dem USB Glasfaser-Adapter gelieferte CD in Ihr DVD/CD
Lesegert einlegen
12. Den USB Glasfaser-Adapter in eine USB-Schnittstelle einstecken
13. Das nachfolgende Dialogfenster wird erscheinen. Die erste Installation ist fr FT232R USB
UART. ANMERKUNG: Wenn der nachfolgende Dialog nicht erscheint und das Gert Ready to
use [Einsatzbereit] ist, ist bereits ein Treiber installiert und dieser wird nicht hochgerstet.

14. Whlen Sie die erste Auswahlmglichkeit und klicken Sie auf Next [Weiter].
15. Das nachfolgende Dialogfenster erscheint. Der erste Treiber wird kopiert.

16. Sobald die Installation fertig ist, erscheint nachfolgende Meldung.

17. Klicken Sie auf Finish [Beenden], um die Installation fertigzustellen.

18. Die zweite Installation sollte starten und der nachfolgende Dialog erscheint.

19. Whlen Sie die erste Auswahlmglichkeit und klicken Sie auf Next {Weiter].
20. Nach Beendigung sollte folgendes Dialogfenster erscheinen.
