Disconnectelectronicfuelinjectorenablecircuitconnectortoprevent
personalinjury.
Donotcomeincontactwiththefuelinjectorterminalswhiletheengine
isrunning.
Note:Valvelashismeasuredbetweentherockerarmandthebridgefortheinletvalves.Valvelashis
measuredbetweentherockerarmandthevalvestemfortheexhaustvalve.Alloftheclearance
measurementsandtheadjustmentsmustbemadewiththeenginestopped.Thevalvesmustbefullyclosed.
ValveLashCheck
Anadjustmentisnotnecessaryifthemeasurementofthevalvelashisintheacceptablerange.Adjustthe
valvelashwhiletheengineisstopped.TherangeisspecifiedinTable1.

2.AdjustthevalvelashaccordingtoTable3.
a.Lightlytaptherockerarmatthetopoftheadjustmentscrewwithasoftmallet.Thiswillensure
thatthelifterrollerseatsagainstthecamshaft'sbasecircle.
b.Loosentheadjustmentlocknut.
c.Placetheappropriatefeelergaugebetweenrockerarmandthevalvebridge.Then,turnthe
adjustmentscrewinaclockwisedirection.Slidethefeelergaugebetweentherockerarmandthe
valvebridge.Continueturningtheadjustmentscrewuntilaslightdragisfeltonthefeeler
gauge.Removethefeelergauge.
d.Tightentheadjustmentlocknuttoatorqueof307Nm(225lbft).Donotallowthe
adjustmentscrewtoturnwhileyouaretighteningtheadjustmentlocknut.Recheckthevalve
lashaftertighteningtheadjustmentlocknut.
3.Removethetimingboltandturntheflywheelby360degreesinthedirectionofenginerotation.This
willputtheNo.6pistonatthetopcenterpositiononthecompressionstroke.Installthetimingboltin
theflywheel.
