El Uso de 'Some' y 'Any' en Ingls

En esta leccin vamos a explicar cuando usar "any" y cuando "some". Es bastante fcil, as que
empezamos:

Significado
Some y any significan lo mismo: "algn/algunos",se usan cuando la cantidad exacta para el
interlocutor es:

No conocida o bien
No importante

NOTA: Some y any se usan tanto en sustantivos contables como incontables.


Aunque el significado de some y any es el mismo, gramaticalmente se usan en diferentes tipos de
oraciones.

Uso de Some
La palabra some se usa en:

ORACIONES AFIRMATIVAS
I need some Milk
Necesito algo de leche

Oraciones interrogativas de s o no, cuando ofrecemos algo. El uso de some en este caso no es
obligatorio y simplemente marca que deseamos que la respuesta sea s (es una frmula de
cortesa).
Do you want some water?
Quieres un poco de agua?

Uso de Any
La palabra any se usa en:

ORACIONES NEGATIVAS
You don't need any experience for this job
No necesitas experiencia para este trabajo

ORACIONES INTERROGATIVAS
Do you have any advice for me?
Tienes algn consejo para m?

A tener en cuenta es que las palabras derivadas siguen las mismas reglas de uso de some/any. Las

Es decir que something y el resto de palabras derivadas de some se usan con oraciones afirmativas:
Sorry, I have to do something important now
Perdona, tengo que hacer algo importante ahora
Mientras que anything y el resto de palabras derivadas de any se usan con oraciones negativas o
interrogativas:
Could you show me any examples?
Podras mostrarme algn ejemplo?

Exceptions

Positive Clauses with Any


We usually use some in positive clauses. But after never, without, hardly, we use any.
Example:
We never go anywhere.
She did her homework without any help.
Theres hardly anyone here.

Also in if clauses, we usually use any.


Example:
If there is anything to do, just call me.

Questions with Some


We usually use any in questions. But if we expect or want the other to answer yes, we use some.
Example:
Have you got any brothers and sisters?

some people have brothers or sisters, others don't - we cannot expect the answer to be yes
Would you like some biscuits?

we offer something and want to encourage the other to say ja

SOME: used in positive sentences for countable and uncountable nouns.


Example: I have some friends.
ANY: used in negative sentences or questions for countable and uncountable nouns.
Example: Do you have any cheese? - He doesn't have any friends in Chicago.
EXCEPTION! "some" is used in questions when offering or requesting something that is there.
Examples: Would you like some bread? (offer) - Could I have some water? (request)
SOMEBODY, SOMEWHERE, SOMETHING: Used in positive sentences.
Example: He lives somewhere near here.
ANYBODY, ANYWHERE, ANYTHING: Used in negative sentences or questions.
Examples: Do you know anything about that boy? - She doesn't have anywhere to go.
NOTHING: Used in positive sentences (with a negative meaning).
Example: This show is very boring! There's nothing interesting!
