examination schedule will be made as a result of entries which do not comply with the information on the Edexcel website. The following is a convenient
summary for reference only.
(a) Candidates who take IAL will be able to re-sit individual units before certification.
(b) Some AS/AL IAL qualification consists of three/six units, e.g. AS Biology consists of units 1, 2 and 3 while AL Biology consists of units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
and 6. Some AS/AL IAL qualification consists of two/four units, e.g. AS Business Studies consists of units 1 and 2 while AL Business Studies
consists of units 1, 2, 3, and 4.

6. ENTRIES
(a) When entries are made for units, there is no requirement for the candidate to declare the level or title of the qualification that he/she is intending to
complete.
(b) Cashing-in: Once a candidate has entered for the appropriate set of units, an entry may then be made for the AS/AL qualification. This is known as
cashing-in. Cashing-in is NOT automatic. To apply for cashing in, candidate must blacken the Cash-in Subject code(s), e.g. XBI01 for AS Biology
and YBI01 for AL Biology. No overall grade will be issued unless a cash-in code is entered at the time of entry.
Results of units will be held in Examination Boards unit bank for as many years as the same syllabuses remains available. The units can be taken in
the same examination series, or can be banked under the candidates Unique Candidate Identification (UCI) number if taken in more than one series.
Once the AS or AL qualification has been certified, all units contributing to that qualification are deemed to be used up. However, a candidate may
enter for at least one unit in a later examination and cash in again for the qualification. Results of UNITS taken will be issued to candidates on the
Individual Candidate Statements of Results. If a cash-in code has been quoted at the time of entry, SUBJECT results at AS or AL will also be issued.
All cash-in applications are subject to the eligibility rules, units, combinations and final decision as determined by the Examination Board. It is the

must not submit more than one entry in the same examination series whether for the same or for different subjects. Dual entries will lead to
cancellation without prior notice. No refund of the examination fees will be made for the cancelled entries.
(d) Late Entry: Application for late entry should be submitted to the Registration Office on or before 20 January 2017. If the application is accepted,
a supplementary fee in addition to the examination fees will be levied for each entry. No late entries will be accepted after 20 January 2017. (Online

LONDON EXAMINATIONS, EDEXCEL GCE/ IAL/ IGCSE/ GCSE EXAMINATIONS MAY/JUNE 2017
TIMETABLE
AVOID CLASH IN TIMETABLE

Timetable Clash

Candidates entering GCE Business Studies / Business, Economics & Psychology must note that both examinations of these subjects for both 2008 Specification (Modular Qualifications) and 2015 Specification (Linear Qualifications) will be available. Please ascertain the specification(s), level(s) and
subject / unit code(s) you are studying, check the timetabling information and opt for appropriate subject / unit codes accordingly.
The examination timetables are decided by the Examination Boards. It is the candidates responsibility to check CAREFULLY the relevant examination timetables (including GCE/IAL/GCSE/IGCSE) and the regulations, syllabuses and other relevant information on the Edexcel website
(www.edexcel.com) before submitting their entries so as to avoid timetable clashes among subjects entered and prohibited combination of subjects/units. Normally, no special arrangements will be made under such circumstances. Candidates who wish to sit more than one examination session on the
same day are advised to check and ensure that there is sufficient break time (e.g. two hours) between examination sessions for travelling and taking rest. These examinations may be held at different examination centres required travelling. Please pay attention to the start time specified below.
Candidates who are going to enter Cambridge GCE/IGCSE (May/June 2017) should also check the Cambridge examination timetables to avoid clashes between the two examinations.

* October examinations are not offered in Hong Kong currently.

Re-sit: Candidates can resit individual IAL units before certification. However only
the better of the two most recent non-absent attempts will be available for
calculating the subject grade. This means that the higher mark of the last two
examinations will be used to calculate the grade.
For instance if a candidate sits an examination for the first time and they
achieve 80 marks and they sit the same examination again and achieves
70 marks and they sit the same examination again and achieves 60
marks; 70 marks will be used to calculate the grade. The first 80 marks is
no longer valid as only the last two attempts will be eligible to use.
