INTRODUCTION
Starkey Olivier Architects is an architectural practice that was established in Knysna on the Garden Route in
2004 by the principals of the company, Jerome Starkey and Nick Olivier. The practice specialises in residential
architecture, ranging from alterations and additions, small scale homes and group housing developments, to
high-end bespoke homes and housing estates.
A dynamic portfolio of completed projects, linked to a long list of fully satisfied clients, is a testament to the
companys commitment to producing client and site specific architectural solutions.
Starkey Olivier Architects has offices in Knysna and Cape Town and offers services that range from
architecture to interior design, along with coordinating appropriate turn-key decor solutions,
providing a hassle-free and complete service to clients.
Although specialising in residential architecture, the practise has successfully completed
projects in the following market sectors; hospitality, retail, commercial and light industrial.
Starkey Olivier Architects is well suited to projects in all market sectors where the aesthetic
strength of the design proposal is a high priority.

Excellence in the bespoke design of single residential houses
has been a focus of the practise since inception. A keen
and ongoing awareness of global design advancements
in residential design ensures that Starkey Olivier Architects
remain a leader in this industry sector.
The principals of the company serve on a number of housing
estate design review panels and municipal design review
committees, and have a strong link to these entities on the
Garden Route.
The firm offers invaluable knowledge in terms of designing
bespoke homes within the parameters of architectural
design guidelines, as well as extensive insights into the
establishment of residential estates.
Hands-on involvement of the Principals from inception
to completion, incorporating interior design and decor
solutions, have insured a portfolio that is architecturally
progressive and design orientated.

THE PRACTICE
Principals
Both Jerome Starkey and Nick Olivier graduated from the University
of Port Elizabeth (currently NMMU) in South Africa, which is a
design oriented school of architecture. They both have a keen
sense of the aesthetic make-up of the built environments in
which they exist and apply their trade.
Having formed RNI Design Architects in 2004 and later
Starkey Olivier Architects, both Architects have had
the opportunity to act as the design & project leads
on all the projects on which they have worked.
