WERE GROWING!

Here is an example of prayer being

answered! The Sunday School continues to
thrive! Praise God and thank you for your
prayers. We are seeing attendance numbers
that we have not seen for three years. Our
teachers and helpers are doing an
outstanding job. Please thank them for their
dedication and service. Thank you to our
families and friends who are making sure our
youth are attending each Sunday they can.
Please continue to pray for our Sunday
School, confirmation and adult classes. This
is a big part of our important mission at St.
John's!

What is SHOP FOR MINISTRY?

When you purchase your Shop for Ministry
cards at St. Johns (good at Lous or
HyVee), you automatically donate 3% to our
church! You purchase the card at face value
and use it like cash the 3% donation is
built into our original purchase price. This is
a very simple way to give back to the church
community as the 3% gift from each
purchase is used to fund the purchase of
Faith Chests given to each child at baptism.
Thank you for your generous and continued
help in funding this wonderful ministry!

BENEFACTION BOARD MINUTES

The Benefaction Board of St. Johns
Lutheran church met on Tuesday, November
8, 2016. Presentations were given by Julie
Pfeil and Greg Priebe from The Zone
requesting funding for the addition of a parttime Youth Family Coordinator. After their
presentation of all the positive things they
have done for the youth in our community,
the Board voted to approve their request of
$5,000. Another presentation was given by
two representatives of Mosaic. Their request
was for $2,000 to help sponsor their Partners
in Possibilities dinner. This is a fund raiser
where they hope to raise over $20,000 for
the members of Mosaic. The Board
approved this request. The last presentation
was from Dr. Mark Stortvedt from Oasis
Counseling International to help fund the
travel costs for training of a therapist to
develop a new Parent and Child Program.
The amount of $2,400 was approved for his
organization. The Board also accepted the
resignation of Troy Strom from the Board.
The Benefaction Board is looking for two
new members to fill the open vacancies.

Thank you to Carol

Sorsen and all who
helped serve, bake
cakes & clean up for
the Dale Tomka
funeral.
You are all so appreciated!
Ornaments commemorating St. Johns
50 Years on the Hill will be sold for a
suggested donation of $5 from now until
they are gone!
