culminating Professional Competence in Management Accounting (CGMA).
The pillars are called:
Enterprise Pillar
Performance Pillar
Financial Pillar
(multiple choice
question) objective type online exam paper and a online case study of 3hrs for each level,
Operational, Management and Strategic.
Syllabus Details
The CImA professional qualification is regarded highly by employers around the world
because of its relevance to business. CI mA updates the syllabus every four years, based on
the key skills that employers and the market demand. The last update was in 2010.
The CImA qualification consists of fifteen exams including a final case study. You also need
to gain three years of practical work experience.
You will gain expertise in three main areas:
Management Accounting
Business Management
Financial Management
Certificate Level
The CImA Certificate in Business Accounting is ideal for people who are new to the world of
business qualification because it offers a solid grounding in the basics of management
accounting, financial accounting and business and consists of 5 papers. It is also a stepping
stone towards the CImA Professional Qualification.
Operational Level
The three exams at this level introduce students to contemporary business subjects like
ethics, forecasting, reporting and marketing, from an operations view. Students who pass all
three operational level papers will be awarded the CI mA diploma in management
accounting.
Management Level
The three exams at this level focus on subjects like project management, relationship
management, analysis of financial accounts and budgeting. Students who pass all three
management level subjects will be awarded the CI mA advanced diploma in management
accounting.
Strategic Level
The three exams at this level build on previous knowledge and cover change management,
performance evaluation and strategy implementation and managing financial risk.
T4
The Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting (TOPCIMA)
T4 consists of two parts: you must complete three years of relevant, practical work based
experience (Part A) and you must pass a final case study exam where you apply your
knowledge to a business problem (Part B). The assessment of case study draws on the
material which has been covered throughout the qualification, particularly in the three
Strategic level papers. You can complete parts A and B in any order once you have passed
the Strategic level Examinations, altough we recommend that you work on both elements
concurrently.
