Function

Loggia
Heating strips

When hot water passes through the copper pipe heat is

transported out to the aluminium flanges with a very little
loss in temperature. Loggia becomes hot and radiates
heat out into the room. It is primarily the floor, walls and
furnishings in the room that are heated. When the temperature of the surfaces is higher than the room air, these
then emit their heat to the air. Through mainly heating the
rooms surfaces instead of the air much energy can be
saved.
High ceilings are no hinder for Loggia. On the contrary, it
is this type of room where the most benefit is gained. Heat
radiation passes through tens of metres of air without any
effect losses on its way to the floor. In this way you avoid
heat a large space of air, which when warm lies under the
ceiling. Instead the heat comes where it is best needed.
A more detailed description of how ceiling heating works
can be found in Lindab Climates Ceiling Heating Guide.

Loggia is
available in widths
33, 60 and 87 cm

Design
The design of Loggia is based on a world patented method of joining a copper pipe with an aluminium plate.
The aluminium plate is metallurgically bonded with the
copper pipe (the material is partly fused under extreme
high pressure). Thanks to this the best possible heat
transmission between the pipe and the plate is obtained.
The copper pipe has a rhombic shape, which means a
turbulent flow is obtained quicker than in a round pipe,
and this contributes to simple and safe dimensioning. The
top of Loggia is insulated using extruded cellular plastic.
The cellular plastic is manufactured without the addition of
CFC or HCFC gases, a.k.a freons.
Loggia 3

Models
Dimensions: Loggia is available in three widths 330
(width 33), 600 (width 60) and 870 mm (width 87).
Lengths: Loggia is designed in lengths from 1.8 m to 6.0
m in increments of 0.6 m.
Water connection: Loggia is available with four different
connections depending on the width of the product
10, 12, 15 and 22 mm. This is to allow the pressure drop
to be adapted with different dimensioning instances.
Joining: Loggia can be joined in lengths over 6 m. The
overall length should be stated when ordering.
Surface finish: Loggia is powder coated as standard in
NCS 0502-Y / RAL 9010, gloss value 30%.

Surface mounted using securing plates.

Plus features
Direction of connection pipes: Loggia is available with
vertical connection pipes.

Installation example
Loggia is installed as standard suspended using chains or
hooks. As an option rigid, yet adjustable, drop rods can be
used. Securing plates are used when surface mounting.
NOTE! To ensure expansion factors are taken into consideration when surface mounting, e.g. pipes between
Loggia or pipes with fixed connections should be fitted
with an expansion loop. See table on page 8.

Against the ceiling, securing plates.

Suspended installation with adjustable drop-rods.

Control

Colour

Fig. 1 A common method to control the heating effect, via

an outdoor compensated shunt group, is flow control with a self-acting two-way valve. Of course, the
two way valve can also be controlled by the Lindab
Climate controller.

Loggia is powder coated in Lindab Climates own finishing

installation. Loggia is finished as standard in NCS 0502-Y,
gloss value 30%, which is equivalent to RAL 9010. Other
colours on request.

Experienced temperature
(operative temperature)

Air heater

Ceiling heating

Ceiling heating heats the rooms surfaces via heat

radiation. In turn the surfaces heat the air. This
gives the prerequisites for a very good indoor
climate.

Ceiling heating is indirectly floor heating! Radiant

heat means that the floor is approx. 2-3 C warmer
than the air just above the floor.

Max 80C surface temperature

40% convection.

60% heat radiation

The ceiling height has no bearing on the heat

reaching the entire building. Therefore the temperature does not need to be higher with higher ceiling
heights.
Operative temperature approx. 2-6C
higher than the air temperature

Ceiling heating also works well for zone heating

in a building. Heating of the adjacent surfaces and
ceiling heating in itself means that the operative
temperature can be increased by at least 2-6 C
above the air temperature.
It will not be cold under the table as the heat
radiation indirectly reaches all parts of the room.
All surfaces in the room contribute towards the
heating, either through absorbing heat radiation,
being heated and then radiating heat or through
reflecting it.
It will not be warm on your head. Lindab Climates
ceiling heaters are waterborne with a standard
max temperature of approx. 40-60 C, and are
usually installed at an installation height of over 2.5
m. This results in the heat radiation from the ceiling
heaters being hardly noticeable.

Heat radiation is spread to all parts of the room

that the ceiling heater can see. Most radiation
goes downwards and taking off to the sides.
Heat radiation is also steered depending on the
temperature of the recipient room surface.

The effect from heat radiation increases against

cold surfaces. This means that the heat goes directly
where it is most needed, i.e. heats the inside
of a window so that the risk of cold draughts is
eliminated.
Ceiling heating is among the most energy saving
heating systems available. Ceiling heating allows
1-2 C lower room temperature and gives a very
small temperature gradient in the building, i.e. no
heat cushions by the ceiling.
Ceiling heating systems can easily be changed
with the enterprise. You do not need to consider the
heating system when modifying the walls and floor.
