NOTES TO STUDENTS
Check carefully the hand in date and the instructions given with the assignment. Late submissions will
not be accepted.
Ensure that you give yourself enough time to complete the assignment by the due date.
Dont leave things such as printing to the last minuet excuses of this nature will not be accepted for
failure to hand in the work on time.
You must take responsibility for managing your own time effectively.
If you are unable to hand in your assignment on time and have valid reasons such as illness, you may
apply (in writing) for an extension. (See your Student Handbook for details.)
Failure to achieve at least a PASS grade will result in a REFERRAL grade being given.
Non-submission of work without valid reasons will lead to an automatic REFERRAL. You will then be
asked to complete an alternative assignment on next semester.
Take great care that if you use other peoples work or ideas in your assignment, you properly reference
them, using the HARVARD referencing system, in you text and any bibliography, otherwise you may be
guilty of plagiarism.
If you are caught plagiarising you could have your grade reduced to A REFERRAL or at worst you could
be excluded from the course.
Assignment
Assume you are a Solution provider of a large/medium scale organizations where there facing
problems with their information system. Achieve the following tasks..
Task-01
Visit the organization that you have selected and get to know about their current system. Identify the
problems/shortcomings of the current system and identify the need for a new solution.
Prepare a project proposal for the proposed solution.
Your proposal should include why a new solution is needed, a Feasibility study report, time schedule
and cost estimations.
(Your project proposal will have to be approved by your supervisor for you to proceed to the next
stage) (P1.1)

P 1.1 Identify and agree a project for a suitable problem
Task 02
Prepare a Project plan (Project charter) for the proposed solution, based on a suitable process
model.
Your plan should include;
The objectives of the proposed project
Potential users of the proposed System
Time schedule
Cost estimations
Risk assessment and mitigation plan
Quality control techniques
The chosen software process model
Intended application software for use
(You should include justification based on evaluations carried out for any decisions/choices made)

P 1.2 Structure and quantify a project plan modeled on a recognized information system
model, using a chosen systems development life cycle.
P 1.3 Evaluate and select suitable applications software to provide a solution to the problem
Task -03
Visit the customer organization and gather all the requirements using appropriate fact finding
techniques. Draw appropriate diagrams to reflect the current systems using your chosen application
software. (P2.1)

P 3.3 Produce documentation for the entire development process.
P 4.2 State any problems, difficulties, limitations during the design of the business solution
and how these were overcome.
P 4.3 Assess the quality of the product compared to the clients original requirements
Task-09
Prepare a Powerpoint presentation which includes all the key aspects of the project and project
report.
Present the project to your client, in the presence of your supervisor and marker.(P4.1, 4.2, 4.3)

P 4.1 Deliver the project to a third party using electronic, written and oral formats.
P 4.2 State any problems, difficulties, limitations during the design of the business solution
and how these were overcome
P 4.3 Assess the quality of the product compared to the clients original requirements
Note: The written report should be 4000 6000 words. You must submit a softcopy of your project
along with your written report on or before the specified deadline. Your presentation will be held after
the submission of your assignment, and a date for this can be fixed with your supervisor and client.
