between emotional health and food that is consumed. Demonstrations that teach children
meditation, yoga, breathing techniques and strategies to support their emotional health will occur
on Fridays during the month of February. Daily an uplifting message will be emailed to all of the
staff members to promote the connection between emotions and nutrition.

Physical - Get Active - March 2017
Physical activity helps control weight, builds lean muscle, reduces fat, promotes strong bone,
muscle and joint development, and decreases the risk of obesity. Children need 60 minutes of
play with moderate to vigorous activity every day to grow up to a healthy weight
(http://www.letsmove.gov). First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama has created energy around the
obesity epidemic in America. She has helped promote physical activity and healthy eating for
children. During the month of March there will be weekly activities that can be done with
children or adults to increase their daily physical activity. The Wednesday Walking Club will
occur weekly with a different theme to energize staff. Each staff member will be given a fitbit to
track and tally their daily steps.

Spiritual - The Healing Powers of Food - April 2017
Your relationship with food can have a tremendous impact on your spiritual growth. People can
often overlook the nourishment of their body when on a spiritual path (Christopher, 2014). It is
important to gain knowledge about the effects of food and nutrition on your spiritual health. Each

Monday in the month of April there will be a variety of guests to help discuss the healing powers
of food. Demonstrations will be conducted about the benefits of different foods.

Nutritional - Strategies for Healthy Eating - May 2017
Parents and caregivers play an instrumental role in guiding children to make healthy food
choices. Most people today are extremely busy and find it difficult to eat healthy. Parents and
caregivers need tools and information to support what they need to make healthier choices while
instilling healthy eating habits in children that will last a lifetime (http://www.letsmove.gov).
Every Tuesday is May meal preparation demonstrations will be offered on sight that can help you
prepare healthy meals for your family. The Demonstration and meal prep will take approximately
one hour so schedule your time now!

Intellectual - Meal Planning - June 2017
Meal planning can be exhausting. There are three essential steps to planning healthy meals plan,
prep and prepare. Creating a meal plan, shopping and preparing the food for the week can be a
challenge. During the month of June we will hold sessions that will assist in helping you create
meal templates, lists of ingredients and we will have your groceries delivered to your home to
assist in meal planning. We will have different vendors such as Blue Apron on site that you can
register for meals to be sent to your home. There will be a weekly raffle winner for Blue Apron,
Safeway.com, Amazon.com as well as gift cards to shop at your favorite local store. All

employees will also have access to a new tool that is purchased by the company to assist in
planning. If you make a favorite chicken dish, why should you have to write it down again for
shopping. The software we found will be provided to every employee. Each Thursday one hour
of the day will be dedicated to meal planning to help promote wellness. Daily recipes of the day
will be sent out to encourage food diversity. Every Thursday in the month of June from 11 am to
12 pm each employee will be allowed to meal plan for their families during their work day.
