Biblical Insight
First-century Christians served God in a variety of occupations. Among them were fishermen, tax collectors, carpenters,
merchants, physicians, metalsmiths, tentmakers, and lawyers.
Some were called by God to be apostles, pastors, and teachers. However, most simply followed Gods call by sharing the
gospel with those around them through their vocational gifts.
God has given every young person unique vocational gifts.
Christians are told to discover the gifts God has given them
(see Romans 12:48). What do you enjoy doing? What things
do you do well? These are important clues to
your vocational gifts. Discovering our gifts
earlier in life makes it more likely that well
develop them fully.
An encouraging note: Teenagers committed
to vocational goals early in life are much less
likely to be involved with drugs and teenage
pregnancy.

What kind of decision maker are you? Are
you compulsive, impulsive, or sensitive to the
leading of the Holy Spirit?
Discussion
Two types of people have the most difficulty making proper decisions for
their lives. The impulsive person usually acts before thinking. How can this
affect the decisions listed above?
On the other hand, the compulsive decision maker is convinced that if he
uses as much time as possible, he will make the perfect decision. Usually
these people become procrastinators or allow others to make their decisions
for them. How could this type of decision making affect some of the decisions above?
