Introduce the Learning Activity: In order to clearly communicate the lesson objectives to my students, I
included in the directions for the activity what they should focus on within the video lesson. This is done
by providing them with questions that they are supposed to be able to answer during and following the
actual lesson itself. Discussion is utilized following the individual completion of the lesson. This is used
to make sure that students are able to answer the questions that relate directly to the lessons objectives.
The motivator in this lesson is the use of the video lesson in order to enhance student learning. Instead of

Provide Information: In order to provide information to the students, I will be walking around while
students complete this exercise to answer any clarification questions, as well to give clarification of the
definitions given in the video itself. Additional provided information will be given following discussion if
further questions arise from the students.
Provide Practice:
Students will enhance their knowledge surrounding the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor by answering
four questions that relate directly to the lesson objectives. These questions are: What were some reasons
for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor? What was the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor? How many
casualties in total for the US? Killed? Wounded? How many casualties on the Japanese side? Was Pearl
Harbor the only area attacked? If not, where else did attacks occur?
Students will also participate in a discussion that reviews the answers to these questions, so that every
student, if paying attention and participating, will be provided with the correct answers to these questions.
Provide Knowledge of Results: Verbal feedback will be provided during the discussion of the questions
students were expected to be able to answer upon completion of the assignment. Written feedback will be
provided by issuing students a letter grade. This grade is based on the criteria that students participate in
the activity, notetaking, and discussion, as well as record down the correct answers for each guiding
question.

Review the Activity:

The review of the activity will be done through the complementing discussion completed at the end of the
class. This discussion will surround the provided questions students are expected to be able to meet upon
completion of the interactive video assignment.
Method of Assessment:
Students will be assessed by a simple scoring guide. Students will receive full credit for the assignment if
they show that they took notes during the learning activity, received the correct answer to each of the
provided questions within the assignment, as well as if they participate in the discussion. The grade given
will be equivalent to a small quiz grade, out of a possible 12 points, 4 points for the notes, 4 points for the
correct answers, and 4 points for their participation in the class discussion. This grade is comprised of
equal parts so that students will be motivated to complete each part of the activity. The notes provide
information in regards to student effort, the correct answers are important because it shows that students
received the information they were expected to, and the discussion is important so that students share
their ideas with one another, as well as improves their public speaking skills.
