OVER SUBORDINATION
DEFINITION:
Over subordination is the use of many dependent sentences which only have one or two independent
clauses (indep. Clauses give a complete thought) in a paragraph.
WHAT IS OVER SUBORDINATION?
Over subordination is refered to the over use of many dependent clauses in a paragraph. This occurs
when the writer prefers to use subordinators instead of FANBOYS, connectors, and so on. As in over
coordination, in over subordination the message that the writer wants to transmit is ilogical, and it is
necessary to fix it using different words as FANBOYS, connectors, correlative conjunction, and
parataxis.

Subordination involves adding subordinating clauses, which use a subordinating conjunction.

(TECHNICAL DEFINITION) It means that this clauses cant stand alone without an independent
clause that can give us the most important idea.

EXAMPLE 1
Wrong Version:
My sister traveled to Canada where his best friend lives because they wanted to live together in order
that they can have time to spend it with one another.
Revised Version:
My sister traveled to Canada. Her best friend lives there, but they wanted to live together. In that
way, they could have time to spend it with one another.
EXAMPLE 2:
Wrong Version:
The dog which was barking yesterday escaped from the house where he lives although he didnt bite
anybody, people were afraid after that his owner could make him enter to the house.
Revised Version:
The dog, which was barking yesterday, escaped from the house where he lives. He didnt bite
anybody, but people were agraid of him. After some time, his owner could make him enter to the
house

After amy finished high school, she began to study hard beacuse she wanted to get better grades at
the university where she studied medicine since 2011 although she knew that the university was not
as high school.
