Initialisation Period according to SAP

Note: 487381
Hi,
SAP Gurus, I have a problem
My fiscal year start from April to March. Unfortunately I open the period 11th i.e. February. Now I
want to post in month of November ie. in Period 08.
I checked in MMRV where back posting allowed. So I can post only in the period 11th(February) and
10th (January).
Also checked in OMSY.
As my requirement is to post in the month of November ie08th period, so I start to follow the
SAP Note: 487381 and done the following steps.
Useed Tcode MMPI, then gone to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that
screen , under the parameters tab entered MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and current
date (12),current period(08), current year (2007)and pressed enter. I got then under short description
initialize period: See SAP Note 487381. and Saved.
Again I went to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute it, but I m getting error
message
Follow the instructions in Note 487381 before initialization
Message no. MM016
Diagnosis
You want to run the period initialization program. Note that when you start the period closing with
initialization, inconsistencies can arise.
Procedure
Note 487381 describes the possible data inconsistencies that can occur if you perform initialization
in a productive system. The inconsistencies cannot be traced back to a system error, but instead the
period closing with initialization. Therefore, these inconsistencies can only be cleared by using the
chargeable remote consulting service. This is because in releases higher than 4.5, the period closer
does not normally have to be started with initialization.
How to solve this problem.

In your parameter IDs (transaction SU3) you must set the parameter MMPI_READ_NOTE with a
date inferior or equal to today's date <b>in the format YYYYMMDD</b>.

Are your sure MM016 is an error message ?

Isn't it a warning message that you can bypass with enter ?

Hi Bijay,

Here' a simple tip for you to solve this issue.

> Need to changed the fiscal year in TCODE OB52
- run tcode OB52 in the ecc system
- press select all button
- select EDIT
- change field contents
- select to fiscal year (period 1)
- enter
- put 2012 on the text box for with val and then press the replace button
- then press the skip button or (shift+f8) 5 times
- then click save button
> on the same system, run tcode SU3
- click parameter tab
- ParameterID
: MMPI_READ_NOTE
- Parameter Value : YYYYMMDD -> (Ex. 20120813)
- click save button
> Initialize preiod for materail master record
- run tcode MMPI
- From Company Code : 30000
- Period : 8
- Fiscal Year
: 2012
- Press execute

> you will then see that the company code 3000 has been initialized
with the period selected which is 082012 in this case.
> this is just an example of the company code I used which is 3000 and I hi hope this will help you
solve the issue.

MM Period initialization. Follow the

instructions in Note 487381 before
initialization
May 12, 2012

MMPI transaction is a very sensitive transaction and must never be executed in a productive system.
Consequence might be very critical and you may loose your job and your company may end up
paying a hefty consulting fee to SAP to correct the situation if it is executed by mistake.
However, if you are in E2E implementation or Rollout and the company code created is new, you can
not execute MMPV many times. Use MMPI in such situations ONLY. For this you need to maintain a
parameter ID MMPI_READ_NOTE in your user record with a value of the date when you read the
OSS Note 487381. The Date needs to be in the format YYYYMMDD.
1. Parameter ID: MMPI_READ_NOTE
2. Parameter Value: YYYYMMDD
If your user record does not have these parameter values system will throw the error Follow the
instructions in Note 487381 before initialization just to make you understand the consequances of
this transaction. So you must go through the OSS Note 487381 before the period initialization.

SAP Note No 487381

I Have to Implement note 487381 to open the period , Sap suggest to Implement Program
Z_DELETE_HIST_ENTRY For the Same But I am not able to Understand How this program will get
triggered. Also tell me How to create FUNCTION POOL for that program.

Reopening closed periods through OMSY tcode works if you don't care about your existing data.
In the sandboxes and training systems we can do it. This is what i have done.
current period in OMSY shows 6/2009 and I wanted to reopen 3/2009 (which is already closed).
1. Undo the plant assignments for the Company code. (de-assign all the plants).
2. Go to OMSY and enter your desired period and save it.
3. Re-assign your plants.
after this i did GRs n GIs. it worked
Note: check accounts and valuation grouping codes.
It worked for me, tried in sandbox.
Thanks,
