Transitive trust - Transitive trust is a two-way relationship automatically

created between parent and child domains in a Microsoft Active Directory
forest.
RAID 0 (striped volume) splits data evenly across two or more disks (striped),
DNS Forward-lookup - Forward DNS lookup is using an Internet domain name
to find an IP address
Checkpoint Files - Active Directory uses a checkpoint file to track the point up
to which transactions in the log file have been committed to the database
file. After
RAID 1 - mirroring, without parity or striping. Data is written identically to
two (or more) drives
Intrasite replication - all the domain controllers inside the same site will
replicate each other.
Multimaster Replication - is a method of database replication which allows
data to be stored by a group of computers, and updated by any member of
the group. All members are responsive to client data queries.
External Trust - one-way or two-way, nontransitive trust with domains that are
outside your forest.
Secure Dynamic Updates - register and dynamically update their resource
records with a DNS server whenever changes occur. This reduces the need for
manual administration of zone records, especially for clients that frequently
move or change locations and use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
(DHCP) to obtain an IP address.
Parent Domains top level domain parent.com child.parent.com
intersite replication- replication between DCs belonging to different sites.
Transaction logs - serial record of all the transactions that have been
performed against the database since the transaction log was last backed up.
Domain - a distinct subset of the Internet with addresses sharing a common
suffix or under the control of a particular organization or individual.
IPv4 class c addresses - 192 - 223
Container in AD - five basic containers: forest, tree, domain, site and OU.
These containers, used to segment and organize a network, were designed
with specific uses and restrictions in mind.

Shortcut trust - Shortcut trusts effectively shorten the path traveled for
authentication's made between domains located in two separate trees.
DNS Reverse lookup - lookup is using an Internet IP address to find a domain
name.
Forest - highest level of organization within Active Directory.
Unicast address - one to one
ipv4 class b addresse - 128 -191
ttl - limits the lifespan or lifetime of data in a computer or network
Organizational Unit (OU) - container within a Microsoft Active Directory
domain which can hold users, groups and computers.
RAID 5 - Striping with parity minimum of three disks
Multicast - send (data) across a computer network to several users at the
same time
Tree - collection of domains within a Microsoft Active Directory network.
NTFS - file system that can recover from disk errors more readily than the
earlier FAT32 file system.
Global catalog - is the set of all objects in an Active Directory Domain
Services (AD DS) forest. A global catalog server is a domain controller that
stores a full copy of all objects in the directory for its host domain and a
partial, read-only copy of all objects for all other domains in the forest.
FTP - transfer computer files from one host to another host over a TCP-based
network, such as the Internet.
Product managment team - organizational lifecycle function within a company
dealing with the planning, forecasting, and production, or marketing of a
product or products at all stages of the product lifecycle.
IPv4 Class A addresses 1 126
One-way trust - only one way
FAT16,FAT32,exFAT
Server message block - network file sharing protocol that allows applications
on a computer to read and write to files and to request services from server
programs in a computer network.

Broadcast address - to everyone

File and Folder permissions - Full control
Users can see the contents of a file or folder, change existing files and
folders, create new files and folders, and run programs in a folder.
Modify
Users can change existing files and folders, but cannot create new ones.
Read and execute
Users can see the contents of existing files and folders and can run programs
in a folder.
Read
Users can see the contents of a folder and open files and folders.
Write
Users can create new files and folders and make changes to existing files and
folders.
Split-brain design - organization uses the same domain name internally as it does
externally, and DNS is designed so that the name services for your organizations internal
network are separate from that used for the organizations external network.

ReFS - file system introduced with Windows Server 2012 with the intent of
becoming the "next generation" file system after NTFS
inheritance ------------top-level domain .com .org.net .int.edu.gov.mil
Child domains - shares the same Domain naming master & schema master
role & it inherits namespace of parent domain.
RAID 10 - also known as RAID 1+0, combines disk mirroring and disk striping
to protect data.

Arp -

Displays and manages the IP-to-physical address mappings used by Windows Server 2012 to
send data on the TCP/IP network.

query (another computer on a network) to determine whether there is a

connection to it.
