How to Teach Family & Friends Book Series

Materials
1- 4 lines notebook in order to make student(s) have better handwriting.
2- Every session student(s) should bring their students book, workbook, notebook, grammar book and story books.
3- Holding parents briefing session in the second session of class to clarify the communicative goals of the book,
teaching process, homework format. (11 minutes of the beginning of 2nd session).
4- Using teachers book for trainers of the book is compulsory.
Homework
1. New vocabularies should be written at least 8 times at home as students homework.
2. Sentence(s) should be built by new word(s) and phrase(s) by student(s) at home as students homework. (at
least one sentence for each vocabulary)
3. The main pages which is taught in class time, should be reviewed and studied at home as students homework.
4. Story books should be memorized by student(s) in class and should be repeated at home over and over.
5. Dialogue boxes in student books should be memorized by student(s)
6. Wallpapers should be asked by teacher(s) to be provided as student(s) class activity and homework.
Teaching Alphabet
1- Before demonstrating anything, grabbing
students' concentration is the most important
matter in every presentation (teaching new
thing(s), giving instruction and correction)
2- 4 lines should be drawn for every alphabet
individually on class board.
3- Every letter should be illustrated on class
board. They must be drawn in a correct
direction by the teacher.
4- Say the name of the presented letter over and over to have better reciting on student(s) side. (it should be
asked to be repeated chorally then individually)
Example:
T: what is it?
S: Aa...
T: what?
S: Aa...
T: you say, what is it?
S: Aa...
Note: Each letter should be taught one by one.
Note : different activities should be applied to make learning process more enjoyable for student(s)
5- Present the sound of the letter then practice it over and over. (playing different games could be helpful in this
regard)
6- Ask students to write the letter down in their 4lines notebook. (e.g. ask them to write 5 times in the class)
7- Move around to monitor if they are writing properly. If any student has difficulty, write some samples in their
4lines notebook.
8- Ask them to write the letter (e.g. 8 times) at home.
9- Ask them to study the letters at home.
11- Don't forget to have assignment and assessment. (understanding check)
11- Doing different tasks which are indicated in main book should be done after the process above.

Teaching Vocabulary

flash cards & drawing pictures on the board)

S: Aa.. Apple...
T: what?
S: Apple...
T: you say, what is it?
S: Apple...
16- Playing games with the presented word(s) should be applied in the class. (e.g. finding the word among the flash
cards.)
Note: Each word should be taught one by one.
17- Ask the students to write down the word in their 4lines notebook. (e.g. ask them to write 5 times in the class)
18- Move around to monitor if they are writing properly. If any students has difficulty, write some samples. While
monitoring ask students word meaning.
19- Ask them to write the word(s) (e.g. 8 times) at home.
21- Don't forget to have assignment and assessment. (understanding check)
Teaching Dialogue Boxes
Before teaching dialogue boxes, all new vocabularies should
be drawn out of dialogue boxes and illustrated according to
the "Teaching Vocabulary" section.
21- Before teaching dialogue boxes, all new structural
ranges should be illustrated inductively (teaching
content basically(from known to unknown) and task
basically)
22- Try to elicit the things were exposed (taught) by
asking students to talk about the pictures of the
dialogue boxes and guess the story.
23- Try to act the characters to grab students
concentration. Also students are more eager to
learn by role playing.
24- Read the story over and over till the time dialogues
are perfectly understood.
25- Ask students to repeat the dialogues after teacher several times.
26- Ask the students to complete the rest of the statements of the dialogues
27- Choose some students (volunteers are in priority) to role play the story boxes
28- Students should memorize all the stories boxes.
